  • David Lipschutz: Meteor(ite)

"Meteor(ite)" is a beautiful and idyllic play by Lindsay Hope Simon. The dialogue is smart, witty, and playful. And I love LOVE the use of metaphors as these two characters discuss gender identity. This was an absolute pleasure to read.

  • David Lipschutz: Unforgivable

"Unforgivable" is how you do a one-minute play. Funny, ridiculous, and straight to the point! Great work to Philip Middleton Williams.

  • David Lipschutz: It's the Jews

As a Jew myself, the title immediately grabbed my attention. I had no idea what to expect going into reading this piece. As it began, I was laughing at the ridiculousness of Stephie and of Arny's uncomfortable situation. But then, as the play progressed, I started to feel many other feelings - sadness, anger, and fear. "It's the Jews" is an emotional powerhouse, deftly written by John Minigan.

  • David Lipschutz: It's an Espresso Drink with Foamy Steamed Milk

In only 1.5 pages, this play speaks volumes. It's hilarious that we are kinda rooting for the meteor! Steven G Martin is a witty and savvy playwright, and "It's an Espresso Drink with Foamy Steamed Milk" - a ridiculously amazing title - is perfect proof of that.

  • David Lipschutz: The Best Little Non-Denominational Winter Performance Ever

"The Best Little Non-Denominational Winter Performance Ever" is a very funny - and very dark - holiday play. Emily McClain has created a wicked satire; and yet, these characters are somehow grounded in a terrifying reality. Who doesn't love being chased out of the room by a menorah-wielding maniac!?

  • David Lipschutz: Dr. Wu Has Been Eliminated

"Dr. Wu Has Been Eliminated" is a great spoof on the inner workings of James Bond villains but from the perspective of two lowly, hilariously dumb henchmen. John Busser clearly has a wealth of 007 knowledge with the humor he brings to this piece.

  • David Lipschutz: Scenes from a Suburban Living Room

Jake Lewis has written a sweet and funny 10-minute play. As an avid Billy Joel fan myself, it is clear that "Scenes from a Suburban Living Room" - witty title, btw - is written with affection for the artist. Great work!

  • David Lipschutz: Just A Rumor

"Just a Rumor" is a beautifully written play that very sweetly pays homage to some of Hollywood's icons of the golden age. The dialogue is smart, and the characters are well-defined. Everything flows with ease both from scene to scene and from witty banter between characters to emotionally poignant monologues.

  • David Lipschutz: Annnd Scene (of the Crime)

"Annnd Scene (of the Crime)" is a hilarious, fast-paced murder mystery that pokes fun at - and pays homage to - silly improv games. John Busser has created three very fun characters with over-the-top personalities. Would love to see this one live!

  • David Lipschutz: Salt

"Salt" is a compelling and unexpectedly intense 10-minute play featuring two multifaceted characters written with the openness to be performed by actors of any/all/no gender(s). Also worth noting is that ending (no spoilers!). Great work to Dakota Pariset.
