  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Chapter Envy

I love plays that give you a snapshot of real life and that is what the writer has created here, in a truly brilliantly funny way. He's created a lovely couple, both passionate readers and both wanting to read the same book. The wonderful back and forth dialogue between them could easily be relatable by an audience and will have them laughing from start to finish!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Bear - Takes Manhattan

As always, Chris had me giggling at the beginning with the wonderful picture. The wonderful adventures of the Bear continue in this brilliantly funny instalment. Its brilliantly written and while the bear's attempts to take Manhattan have been thwarted for now I can't help but believe he may make an appearance in the White House or at Buckingham Palace. The bear is a wonderfully created character with a very funny and unique voice that you can't help but be drawn to. Its a genius series!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Boys Across the Street: A Monologue

Despite the contents of what Mabel is saying to be ugly for the most part, the writer has given the character such a unique voice that you can almost see her, hidden behind her door. Its a very poignant commentary about the elements of society we see every day and to see it standing up on a stage for the world to see I think would be a good thing. Its a very well constructed piece and the way the writer has created the character so she twists so fast from friendly to not and back is very well done.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Shark Play

Miranda has created a wonderful piece here. It informs (about sharks), it examines (about relationships) and it exposes (the feelings between the characters). The tension builds through the piece as Ben desperately tries to tell Sully about his want for a "normal life" and this only aids to the brilliant crescendo ending that is just the cherry on the shark shaped cake!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Pics

This is a brilliantly funny piece that manages to address some serious topics but also the complexity that is competitive mothers. Mike has created characters of two generations and given them very distinguishable voices (to the point where the younger characters sound like they have their own language almost). Couple this with the back and forth negotiation process regarding some questionable pictures and the revelation of the agenda of the mothers in this case, its a piece that will have an audience laughing and intrigued!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Father's Day

We had the great pleasure of reading this piece as part of our weekly play reading and it inspired a new love of theatre in me, a love of theatre that prompts conversation. Martin has created a piece that can't fail to get the audience talking about the characters, the obscure situation they have found themselves in and how it proceeds to unfold. I think if this piece makes it to a stage you'll find audiences discussing it in the pub many hours later, and that's never a bad thing.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Cheese Board Incident

Well...I'm not going to lie but her boyfriend sounds great! The writer has created a brilliantly neurotic character here who (maybe in a fear of losing independence) attacks her boyfriend....with a toothpick. Its a brilliantly funny story as you listen to the characters explain to, what I'm sure is a very confused police officer about her crime and the reasoning behind it. This is a wonderful piece that takes a close look at relationships while being laugh out loud funny at the same time. Would make a great comedy piece for an actress.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Daddy's Safe

So, I had the privilege or reading this play just after it was written for a play-a-day challenge and I couldn't stop giggling at it. Watching the thief getting more and more exasperated by the girl's reactions (not to mention the insanity of him expecting her to react in a different way after her multiple warnings) is brilliantly funny! It would be funny (if startling) to watch but I fear any actress in it would require many throat sweets if performing it more than once. I'm always amazed at what writers can produced in a short time frame! Fab piece!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: WHAT IF? (a 10 minute play)

The thought of "What if things had been different?" is a question that can be tremendously haunting and I think that feeling echoes in this piece. The two characters share their heart breaking stories in ways that intertwine beautifully. It is a wonderfully sad and beautiful piece about the bond between parents and children and how its formed differently for each person. I'm not surprised at all that its been professionally produced.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Physical Education

The course of true love never did run smooth, well that's definitely the case here! The playwright weaves a beautiful web of complexity as the characters relationships are revealed to the audience, getting more and more complicated by the page. The plot twists and turns with brilliantly crafted elegance, making you smile as the characters discover the crazy situation they have found themselves in. I'm sad I didn't see this piece being done live because my bet is it was brilliantly funny!
