  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: THE WORLD'S WORST THEATERGOER: THE WORLD'S WORST MONOLOGUE

Well...as a writer and someone who's been to see shows with annoying audience members, this one certainly takes the biscuit! I've never read a character who has set my teeth on edge so much (in the best possible way). I can imagine this being an 'opener' to a production where the character actually walks through the audience and sits down. It is a brilliantly written piece that is sure to have the audience laughing as well as thinking "Oh I know someone like you".

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Next Door Nativity

Well....that's not the nativity I was taught at school! A brilliant twist on the traditional tale where you have the characters questioning their loyalty as well as their choices. We read this as part of a festive play reading this year and I think its brilliantly done and would make a great alternative to a Christmassy festival.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Scraps

A heart wrenching piece completely! As an audience we are invited into these people's lives where they discuss their secrets, wants, desires and past. At the centre of it all is this desire for Mark to understand what reality is but the suffering he has been through overseas makes him blind to it. You want to take this family in your arms and take away the hurt they are going through and that in itself makes this a wonderfully tragic piece. I think an audience will struggle not to emotionally connect to this very well written piece.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Candy Store: A Ten-Minute Play

So that's what it would sound like if you read an erotic novel out loud! This piece is brilliantly funny and the central female character is someone I'd like to play as she is powerful and slightly terrifying (at least to men) at the same time. All of this coupled with the fact that the writer takes an interesting look at society and how we interact with the opposite sex. Its very witty and I'd be interested to know if she's like that everywhere she goes?! Brilliantly done.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Apartment

From the first scene I had a feeling that something wasn't right and then the playwright proceeded to hand over surprise after surprise and then leaves the piece with a glorious ending of questions unanswered. The dialogue is full of brilliantly crafted tension and the characters are wonderfully complex. Its a brilliant piece that is going to have an audience guessing right the way to the end.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: PerSEVERance

A brilliant (and terrifying) ten minutes! I found myself wanting to shout at the script "look round! she's right there!" The writer has taken what starts out to be quite an amusing situation and then gives it a huge dose of building tension. Couple this with what it would look like visually and I think you'd have any audience shaking in their seat. Not normally a horror fan but this worked very well!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Twisted Sister

A sibling relationship is always complicated and the sisters here are a prime example of that. I find it fascinating how neither sister 'fits' into a box. Anna is capable of mocking her sister as well as being shy and submissive while her sister is capable to having her confidence rocked. As the audience we get to watch as the personality traits become visible in both sisters and how their complicated relationship is moulded and shaped before our eyes. It is a very relatable piece with relatable characters for any audience.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Prettiest Eyes - 3 minute play

Its always a heart breaking though when someone you care about isn't the same anymore. The writer here gives you this beautiful snapshot of Aileen desperately trying to cling to the memory of her mother and trying to trigger her mother's own memory. Its a heart wrenching piece that provides a few moments where you smile when mother and daughter almost share a moment. The writer has constructed an emotional rollercoaster that explores a tender but sad relationship between mother and daughter.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Me, Maroon (A Monologue)

This monologue perfectly reflects the neurotic way we think about how we look to other people. The character rants in a very naturalistic way and an audience would empathise with how they doubt themselves, because at some point so have they. I think this could be a powerful monologue for a young actress.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Floor scene (A Scene)

I'd be intrigued to read the bigger project of this piece. As a piece on its own it speaks in droves about the quality of relationships and how people interact. Not much is said but then it doesn't need to be. You can see these two people having their moment in your mind through stage directions alone. The scene is powerful and well done!
