  • Joe Swenson: Bulletproof Love

Incredible play, the picture and story of Ambrose and Ramona are heartbreakingly beautiful. Poetic in their monologues to and about each other. While it starts off with humor laced in, it turns beautiful. Would love to see this staged. Conceptually appealing. Excellent show

  • Joe Swenson: O, For a Muse of Fire

What an amazing short play. The beauty of the story-telling. Scott Sickles captures something so tragic and teases us with hope through the hopeful and the morose. The characters so real, so believable, and the tragedy so real, so intentionally thought through. Scott never loses the strategy behind compelling story telling and this show is a great example of that. Fantastic.

  • Joe Swenson: HELLISH DELIGHTS (Four New One-Act Plays)

SOMEWHERE SOUTH OF BETHLEHEM (Cont'd) - The implications being made are wonderful and at the same time Scott forces the audience to empathize in the most awkward ways while at the same time convicting the power of belief for it's potential deceit. The truth is what you believe it is and Scott, through Aimee, delivers this message emphatically while at the same time offering alternative views on what might be south of Bethlehem. Love the show.

Bulletproof - Incredible play, the picture and story of Ambrose and Ramona are heartbreakingly beautiful. Poetic in their monologues to and about each other. While it starts off with humor laced in, it turns beautiful. Excellent show.

The Fallow Garden - Begging for a twisted twist driven show, this is the one. The power shifts from character to character as the audience remains a step behind. Finally Scott wrestles the uncomfortable tension away from the audience with a fitting conclusion. Fantastic.

  • Joe Swenson: ONE

My wife would say that I'm the one word responder. Which I find annoying because I write a lot of words all of the time. As you read this play, it's possible for a different interpretation from the specificity of the writing. What if this is purely the perception of the other person and that there's an entire conversation that is actually taking place. At times it felt like that. Chris Plumridge is a brilliant writer and I thoroughly enjoy his shows, including this one.

  • Joe Swenson: Table for Thirteen

Brilliant. Chris Plumridge is one of my favorite writers and might be my favorite monologue writer if there is such a thing. This show doesn't disappoint with its little digs at the disciples as Jesus tries to book a dinner without name dropping. He's put everyone there at the same time including Da Vinci. It's fantastic. A fun read that doesn't disappoint.

  • Joe Swenson: The Door to Somewhere

I love an ambiguous play and The Door to Somewhere allows the audience, through it's ambiguity, to process the dialogue and visuals differently. Willow has written a play here that seemingly is rife with intrigue and you care about the direction that Maggie is going until you realize that you don't care as much as Maggie cares. A lot of me wants to know what's on the other side of the door and a lot of me feels like this is a familiar story that resides within me and others like me. It's a great show.

  • Joe Swenson: Things they Don't Want You to Know

I had the wonderful opportunity to be part of the read through at Crowbait Theater Deathmatch. Great build and escalation as this show continues to drive through to the end. Love to see this in a full production. Excellent show. Highly recommend.

  • Joe Swenson: The Cheshire Cat Gets Adopted

This is absolutely hilarious. I had the opportunity to watch this at Crowbait Theater Deathmatch and the word play and consistency in the Cheshire Cat is incredibly. The post Alice world of a pet shop and someone looking for a pet and the Cat manipulating their way into a conversation is sensational. Love the show, hope to see this show on festival or full production soon.
