  • Joe Swenson: Y & Z

Fantastic tension filled play between two characters. While Chris has created the perfect "fear of the unknown" play, he has done it with creativity and imagination. The build is fantastic and part of Chris art, but the finish is what we're all in for and Chris delivers with a flourish. Great play.

  • Joe Swenson: I Have No Words

Sadly 18 months later, this war still wages on. The chronicle of Martha is heart wrenching and raw, beautiful and violent, helpless, hopeless, and inspiring as much as it's harrowing. To imagine someone's life impacted by the wages of war is one thing, but to live it through someone's eyes creates a unique empathy. There is so much of me that hopes that there will be more to this journal and that it doesn't become a memoir instead. Most impressive to me is how authentic Chris is to Martha's voice. Raw, calculative, and as sad as it is, beautiful.

  • Joe Swenson: The Curious Tale of Marston Moore's Untimely Demise

I love how Chris' mind works. Seriously, I can't explain how it works, I just love how it works. There's a touch of predictability in all of this unpredictability and I love it. Stephanie, Lucy, Gary, and Marston all make a wonderful cast of characters. Especially Gary, who I imagine exists in other shows written by Chris. The flow of the show, the escalation, the comedy (both physical and verbal). All of it, this is truly a fantastic show and a wonderful story. I do hope he gets into the heaven that makes him feel the most accepted. BRAVO!

  • Joe Swenson: The Trouble With Unicorns

An incredible monologue that cries out to be seen, to be read, to be understood. I love this monologue in so many ways as it's less about the unicorn and more about the stubbornness of humanity and how we'll do the silliest things if it brings hope to a desperate situation. This story of heartbreak and glorification of trivial things over survival is a story of politics and religion wrapped into one desperate tale by a hunter who has encountered a unicorn. The more I think about this play, the more I love its complexity. Highly recommend.

  • Joe Swenson: PHIL GRUNENWALD'S KID (Three Pages)

Melissa Milich creates this perfectly offset story about love, hate, and hope. I was in the Marine Corps at a time when service members began being thanked for their service. My dad was in Vietnam and was spit on and called much worse than where Melissa’s play goes. Love endures despite the persistence of hate, this is the story that Melissa creates. You’re left with Mr. Martinez’ words at the end and that shows you the hope. Highly recommend this play.

  • Joe Swenson: Sleeping with Cicadas: A Fantasia on Bigfoot

There is so much awesome going on in this play that it’s hard not to smile throughout the show. I’d love to see this on a stage. Melissa Milich packs so much into this short play. Equal parts Harry and the Henderson’s, City Slickers, and complete with genuine dialect and this play is designed to absolutely entertain. Highly recommend.

  • Joe Swenson: HUMAN REMAINS

What a fun ride. Melissa Milich has written a wonderful short play full of escalation, unique characters, and has put plenty at stake. There’s plenty of situational comedy mixed in with dark humor to keep you wildly entertained. Excellent play.

  • Joe Swenson: Even when the storm comes

Tears. Lots of tears. Ryan Vaughan is an incredible storyteller and this story told through the eyes of the characters is equal parts uplifting and familiar, beautiful and reverent, heartbreaking and full of love. Each of the scenes are woven into this thread of commonality and connection and Ryan hits the mark as the play starts to accelerate and emotions continue to escalate. There's something for everyone in this show. Comps would be a combination of My Girl and Bridge to Terabithia to start and so many more. Love this show, highly recommend.

  • Joe Swenson: Ten Things I Hated Growing Up: A Monologue

Brilliant concept. Raw, wonderfully written. Several items on the list I absolutely relate to. Some make you want to hug ME and hope that everything will be alright. It’s a great piece by a gifted writer! Thank you for sharing.

  • Joe Swenson: When in Rome

Now that’s how you end a play! In a Gladiator (Movie) meets Monty Python meets Camelot way, this play delivers excitement, laughs, loads of laughs, a quick twist, and voila it’s done. So many laughs, so many ah ha’s. I’d love to see this staged or filmed or in a podcast. Fantastic show.
