  • Brenton Kniess: Seven Minutes in Heaven with Jack Kissinger

While this is a short play, these two characters have a complete and satisfying journey of change. The dialogue is fun, spontaneous, but most importantly, real.

I absolutely loved the way King goes about showing the audience Sam likes Jack through their biology class. I thought it was really smart and made me love the way King crafts this play.

This is the first time I’m reading King’s work, but King has become one of my favorite writers on NPX. This play is creative, authentic, and funny. I aspire to write a play like this. Brilliant!

  • Brenton Kniess: HOLD ONTO YOUR HATS

Charles Scott Jones provides a peculiar nature of his vision of horror thriller, and oh what a treat that is! This one act is expertly layered and crafted as we get to see the story unfolds. It’s dark, fun, and wildly creative!

  • Brenton Kniess: Coming Back To Life

Karp constructs an incredibly hilarious and honest comedy for older actors. The dialogue between Morris and Jack is fast-paced, witty, and direct. This play is a true comedic gem! Would love to see this staged!

  • Brenton Kniess: JOLLY, HAPPY SOUL

Bolduc has created something truly unique and hauntingly dark, but also very funny! The dark humor and relationship between Frosty and Karen is surprising, blunt, and fun. Bolduc also gives a flavor of nostalgia in this piece which to me, makes it even more wildly creative and engaging!

  • Brenton Kniess: Death of Stand Up

Ollet writes a strong character attack on the current age of stand-up. This satire is a gem for any actor wanting to make a bold impression with their character!

  • Brenton Kniess: Get In The Fucking Robot

As a writer, Heyman always crafts a compelling world of heart, and humanity, and captures the human experience so eloquently. This short play is able to capture so much emotion and world-building in so little time. It's scary, thrilling, and heartfelt. An outstanding addition to any festival.

  • Brenton Kniess: Do You Have the Time?

Wow! What a mad comedy romp! Funny, surprisingly dark, and deliciously fun, Kate Danley's DO YOU HAVE TIME? sets itself up for a success story at any short play festival. What fun!

  • Brenton Kniess: The Body Politic

Mike Byham crafts a political satire that so eerily and honestly captures the election cycle/system of modern-day America. As conversations spur about the Electoral College vs the popular vote, Byham offers a unique perspective that I believe every voter should have to read, or better yet, see staged. The dialogue is very well crafted and each character is executed with ease. This is the perfect play for the current political climate. What would YOU do to win?
