  • Jennifer O'Grady: Rickey walks James around their new neighborhood

Utterly charming "walking" play about an older but still-in-love married couple embarking on retirement and a new home. I felt like I was right there with both of these men while reading, even though only one is physically present while the other is virtual. Lovely and uplifting.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Danforth Street, January 6

Beautiful audio play that perfectly and movingly captures the bewilderment of elders living through covid and seeing their world change so drastically and horribly under the last presidential administration, culminating with the Jan 6th attack on the Capitol--the day on which the play is set. But Minigan's play ultimately and wonderfully ends on a very hopeful note that makes us, the reader or listener, feel hopeful too. So well done!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: The Wolves

Perfectly but also uniquely captures the dynamics of a group of teen girls united by their sports team. The way these characters reveal themselves and grapple with their shared and separate struggles is so wonderful, both funny and heartbreaking and ultimately unforgettable.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Invisible

Daly's one-act about an aging professional woman in need of work and her two younger selves attempting to "help" her is a gripping powerhouse of a play, theatrical and moving, with marvelous interplay among the different selves and wonderful moments of sharp humor intermingling with darker emotions as the characters reveal themselves and push the central character toward her heartrending resolution. This play needs to be seen.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Cost of Living

Words can't do justice to how much I love this play and how much I was moved and just blown away by it. Haunting and masterful. (Not downloadable because published but I'm so glad I purchased it!)

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Poet (short play)

Hansen’s very short plays are so marvelous and masterful—this is one of many, and it’s written entirely in verse which is both funny and illuminating. That Hansen can pack so much into so few pages is astonishing. Highly recommend.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: THE MADNESS OF MEMORY (from the MAD FOR MYSTERY Collection)

Powerful ten-minute play that appears to be a moving drama about dementia, until Lermond deftly pulls the rug out from under us and we see that there's another story going on, one that's quite chilling. The "madness" of memory indeed! This would be terrific on stage.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Hold My Wings

I love this fun and witty short play from Foster with its major dramatic question we can all relate to (at least imaginatively!) and its phenomenal twist at the end. Terrific!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Twenty Below

Utterly charming play, funny and surprising too. I love how the (brrr!) wintry weather and landscape, which Haas makes us see and feel, contrasts with the warmth of, and warm relationship between, this mother and daughter. Just lovely.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: "THE RODINS ARE HERE!"

Absolutely delightful and hilarious short play revolving around the French sculptor Rodin and one extremely long weekend for the American couple hosting him. This would be so much fun to perform and to watch!
