Smart little piece. Each character is fully formed and the story is a good one. really liked the dialogue - the voices rang true and the character interactions crackled with sparks of realism and deeper significance. Well done.

  • James Binz: The Bell-Ringer

Emma Carter has a wonderful way with a tale. This holiday piece would be a joy to watch on stage - the characters are vibrant and the dialogue makes us want to know them better and have empathy for their situations. This is a really nice short piece. Brava!

  • James Binz: Truck Stop Wisdom

I'll admit to being a Kim E. Ruyle fan. I keep enjoying his scripts and admiring his way with plot and characters. This piece is fascinating to read with characters who change our expectations. The plot is strong with a through-line that keeps an audience captivated and interested. This would be easy to stage and fun to watch. Amber is a unique character and full of surprises. Great stuff, Kim!

  • James Binz: January

I was honored to see this play performed at the Pittsburgh New Works Festival this weekend and it was wonderful. The actresses all did a magnificent job of portrayal and the dialogue worked very well. Sarah Schreck has mined a memory situation for comedy and pathos and hits the mark. The characters are natural and real in spite of the time travel element and the staging was easy and worked. What a very nice piece!

Oh, John Busser! I made the mistake of reading this in public and now people are wondering what I'm laughing out loud about. The Pandora story remixed with comedy and fantasy and horror. Great dialogue, terrific acting opportunities and a fantastic story that must be seen. This would be an excellent short piece for a horror festival! Well done, John!

  • James Binz: Mr. Darcy, I'm waiting (A monologue for women)

A nice monologue piece for an actress to chew on. The dialogue is well written and flows naturally and well. The story line is good and the character fights to hold true to herself and her story. Lovely, but very short, monologue.

  • James Binz: When I Fall in Love, It Will Be..., a 10-minute play

2 characters and a park bench has endless variations. This is a very good way to approach the subject and tell a story that is rarely told. Susan Middaugh has captured the moment in time for these 2 wonderful characters and created a dialogue that sings. Pace and movement are terrific and these characters provide a nice opportunity for some senior actors. Brava

  • James Binz: HOW BRENDA LANG INVENTED TIME TRAVEL WITH A MOLDY PIECE OF CHEESE

The invention of time travel. Scott Mullen has created an amazing story with glorious characters, sparkling dialogue, a weird fantasy setting and rapidly molding cheese. Farcical highjinks and odd science. Nicely done

  • James Binz: Open and Shut

Skye Robinson Hillis has created a delightful little piece with excellent characters, a simple, yet appropriate setting and a story/plot that flows with comic genius. The ending is well done! Brava

  • James Binz: Down to the River to Spit

Nice comic short piece with fun characters and a unique setting. The dialogue is very well paced and authentic and the story/plot is fast and fascinating. This would be fun to see staged. Great short piece for Teen actors.
