  • James Binz: Photos with my Rapist: A One-Minute Monologue

Wow. Full power in less than a minute. Everything you can imagine with that title. Terrible to read, and heartbreaking to see. Everything a short monologue could be.

  • James Binz: Curves (a monologue)

Hilarious! Funny funny stuff here. This is a nifty monologue that would be dynamic to watch onstage. Great opportunity for a powerhouse actress (with a Grinch belly).

  • James Binz: DOUG DIGS IN

Martin lets us peek in on Doug's "all or nothing" moment. Sometimes the best laid plans go kablooie when we least expect them. Doug has a surprising plan B.

  • James Binz: Dungeons and Dragons of Love

I miss my DM days. This is a pretty good representation of the usual D&D play. I had a group of all guys, so we didn't have too many outside distractions or issues. Gref does a nice job of using the setting of D&D to discover deeper meanings and nuances. Nicely done.

  • James Binz: It Won't Matter Tomorrow

Very nifty concept. These are two well drawn characters and the situation is absurd, but believable. Nice dialogue and the relationship loops in nicely for a short piece. Nicely done treatment of the time-loop conversations.

  • James Binz: A Summer Fling

I thought one thing, and then? Is this actually about global warming? or is this about menopause? Is there a portable air conditioning unit in the room? or does she have a lover? What exactly does Netflicks and Chill refer to? Nora Louise Syran explains it all for us and this monologue will be a terrific audition piece.

  • James Binz: moments when I wasn't good enough

Nifty concept. The dialogue works so well between these two characters - it just flows so naturally. I immediately empathized with both characters. It is always difficult to have an actual plot in a 10 minute play - going from a beginning to a middle to an end and having characters change. Gibson has done a perfect job of it and gives a master class on how the thing is accomplished.

  • James Binz: Gimme Five!

Anj Marie must have had a great time working on this. I ended up looking at my hand in wonder and I think the thumbkin is trying to say something as I type this. What a blast!

  • James Binz: Shoelaces (10 minute play)

There was certainly a strong sense of menace in the cheerful dialogue that opens this short piece. We spend the entire play waiting for the danger shoe to drop, even as the conversation gets more and more pleasant and easy. When the inciting moment occurs - it still hits you with surprise and shock. A nice piece with strong structure and plot.

  • James Binz: Green Bean Casserole for Breakfast

A quirky little meet/cute with fun characters. Murphy's dialogue is terrific and the story is fascinating. I personally would never ever have green bean casserole for breakfast - but it looks like a good plan for these two. Excellent short piece.
