Love the flip. That moment when you realize what this conversation is actually truly about. It is rare and beautiful writing. Aly Kantor shows us all how this difficult subject can be done.

  • James Binz: A Typical STEM Job Interview

Wow! What a roller coaster of a piece! Perfect for zoom! I worked for a few years as a head hunter before the pandemic and the use of zoom interviewing was state of the art. "Sell me this pen." "In five minutes design a marketing plan for your shoes." Sam Heyman has captured the absurdity of interviewing for anyone who has ever had an extended job search. A comic farce!

  • James Binz: Brides Gown Revisited

Nice short piece with frantic escalation and crackling good dialogue. Very well written. Nice twist, too! A good short for performance!

  • James Binz: 37 Origami Bees

Ha ha - funny sketch here. I was pulling for Billy to finally succeed, but the ending is still wonderful. I can almost see the frantic folding - a sit down farce! Typical and terrific Morey Norkin fun!

  • James Binz: Summer of 69 Job (Monologue)

Slice of life monologue that tells that rare story of a young man's journey to adulthood. Summer of 69 was a terrific time in America and white guys from Pittsburgh got a big education in life in those camps. Rich Helms nails the experience.

  • James Binz: Sam and Lucy

What an odd and dark piece this is. Comedy? The mother/daughter characters are strongly built and the dialogue crackles with realism and conflict. This is a special story told so well and filled with deep significance and powerful little emotional bursts. Very theatrical and needs to be performed!

  • James Binz: The Plan Was Perfect (Monologue)

Comic monologue with a good strong character. This was a nice exercise in theatrical writing. The perfect plan, as always, ends in a humorous final scene.

  • James Binz: TUMMY TROUBLE IN PARADISE

What a predicament! I've suffered through food poisoning and I can't imagine that anything would be worth getting dressed and going to a beach in the middle of it all. What an absurd premise! I think Debra A. Cole is a master playwright and this piece shows her chops off again!

Impressive! Characters we can love and empathize with and then a hook to the bees when I thought it was too late. Great final image and a wonderful exercise.
