We expect from the start that Melanie and Shaun are in the janitors closet to do something sneaky and private, but they are practicing walking in shoes. Love love love. This play also speaks volume on assigning the characters as young students in high school, a time when our younger generation needs to hear stories and situations like this the most. The world is vastly changing, and a lot of people today are not informed on topics umbrella covering the LGBTQIA. The story is written very beautiful, very enjoyable from start to finish.

“Stiletto Envy” is play that is added to my vault of favorites. I heavenly enjoyed this play. From first reading the title, I was hooked. As a night life entertainer, I love a good pair of stilettos and I also do enjoy when individuals are envious. Perfect Pair. #DRAMA. As also a gay male, I enjoyed this play because it spoke on gender non-conforming, which is a topic that is not nearly as talked about in today’s society. Playwright Eliana Pipes told an inspiring story with a twist. A play that explores a connection between two pre-teen kids.

This is a charming little story that really encapsulates what it's like to be a member of the lgbtq community with cishet friends. There is a really nice juxtaposition of Melanie and Shaun's views on gender roles that allow for genuine moments of discomfort in their conversation. You can tell that they still care about each other despite their differences which makes the friendly jabs that come after awkward silences feel really natural.

It's really nice to see lgbt representation that isn't what I like to call what straight people think being lgbt is like. This story is heartfelt, funny, and feels more authentic to what being lgbt is like.

This story is absolutely phenomenal! The vulnerability between these two characters will grab your heart. I love the complexity of both characters individually and in how they relate to each other. This story explores the ideas of becoming, understanding and opening up oneself. This is an absolute must read!

I love this play! It does a great job speaking to the high school experience- especially by giving voices to those in the LGBTQIA+ community! Love is found everywhere, and stories that express that are the most powerful. Stiletto Envy blends its comedy with heart to a perfect degree.

I really enjoyed this!! I think it is exactly what theatre should be!! There are educational bits while also being quite fun to read. As an LGBTQIA+ member myself, I really enjoy positive educational representation without being a PSA or caricature.

As the playwriting community sets their sights on creating more LGBTQIA+ representation, we often go wrong by perpetuating the very labels that we originally intended to dismantle. Pipes does a nice job of reminding us that there are many different aspects to gender identity that we have yet to explore in full. A welcomed eye opener!

What a breath of fresh air! It’s so nice to see stories being told from all perspectives. This play really captures the high school experience of figuring out yourself in relation to others.

I love this play!! It shows just how difficult growing up with perceptions of gender norms and ideals. I can relate to both of the characters in this play, and the frustrations that they have when it comes to identity, and not knowing how to verbalize how you feel.
