  • Monica Cross: In Search of Plan A

If you are looking for a dark office comedy, this is the play for you! IN SEARCH OF PLAN A gives us humor and desperation in equal measure as Amy Dellagiarino's characters confront that they have jumped to a very drastic plan B without fully exploring their plan A. This fun emotional roller-coaster would be an absolute treat for comedic actors.

  • Monica Cross: Toaster Problem

Amazing! TOASTER PROBLEM offers the audience a complex dilemma regarding the debate surrounding artificial intelligence in the span of one minute! The quick calculations of this short play are in sharp contrast to the ethical problem presented. It is fun and witty!

    Definitely check this out!

  • Monica Cross: Major Serious Fucking Diet (a Mother's Day monologue)

MAJOR SERIOUS FUCKING DIET confronts the absurdity of diet culture. Lee Lawing highlights how a fixation on food and restriction can damage relationships and take the joy out of holidays. This monologue also points to the way diets can create unhealthy associations to food such as overcompensating when "breaking" a diet as a result of long term restriction. Lee's character of Reece is so steeped in diet culture that she can't even see how it is effecting her, and we are given the space to laugh at her absurdity and hopefully learn from it.

  • Monica Cross: The First Pescatarian (Based on the Ancient Texts)

Ever considered who the person to eat a sea creature was? DC Cathro proposes what that scenario might have looked like.

Amusing and Insightful THE FIRST PESCATARIAN (BASED ON THE ANCIENT TEXTS) would be so much fun to stage. Fun for the actors! Fun for the designers! Fun all around!

    Highly Recommended!

  • Monica Cross: I saw a guy kill a dog on the train on the way here

WHAT A PLAY!!!! From the title, there is an idea of where this is going, but knowing from the start doesn't make it any less brutal when it hits. And everything else just makes it all the more visceral. We are confronted by the causal cruelty without being forced to be party to it. Bailey Macejak gives us the perfect level of abstraction to confront this horror. The play is rounded out by snappy dialogue and fascinating characters.

  • Monica Cross: It is I, Seagull (a Monologue)

An awesome bit of Space Travel history! The first woman to be launched into space! LEE R. LAWING gives us a fantastic glimpse into that historic event!

I got to see the reading by Back Porch Theater. I enjoyed the complexities of the character, and the journey she takes us on.

    BRAVO!

  • Monica Cross: The Demons Down Under the Sea

Beautiful. Haunting! THE DEMONS DOWN UNDER THE SEA is serving lesbian gothic realness! I love the picture of women in mourning clothes in a cemetery on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea side. This play would be great for a scene study because it presents three very different women all with very strong wants.

    An excellent Horror play!

  • Monica Cross: You Before Me

Stunning. Heartbreaking. Breathtaking. Empowering. Invigorating. YOU BEFORE ME is a beautiful take on a classic myth. This play captures the struggle of growing up and finding a new parent/child relationship now that you are both adults.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • Monica Cross: LAST CALL

LAST CALL is a wonder take on the "time travel to get the girl" trope! Given the implications about temporal mechanics in this piece, this story is both bittersweet and hopeful. Liz Coley has fun with the time loop dynamic created by the two characters, and suggests a much larger world than the brief conversation we see here.

    Artfully done! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • Monica Cross: LIGHTED FOOLS

There was an absolute shiver down my spine reading this. It is a weird, tragic, and disturbing fairy tale. It would be a FANTASTIC movement piece. So creepily fun and great for all ages!
