  • Monica Cross: Skywriting (a one-minute play)

I big romantic gesture becomes a giant flop! Matthew Weaver has a great sense of whimsy and in this play, he uses it to great effect. SKYWRITING seems like a straight forward 1-minute play, but it has a delightful twist! Well done!

  • Monica Cross: The Interior

THE INTERIOR is a wild ride! Poor Skylar Chapin's quick work trip goes from bad to worse to terrifying and a bunch of other places. Skylar has a matter of fact knowledge of her own imminent demise, explaining that there are methods for survival, but Skylar has no idea how to do any of it. Scott Sickles gives us wit, horror, and a fantastic revelation!

I got to see this performed by Back Porch Theatre on Facebook! If you are looking for a short solo play, THIS IS THE ONE!

  • Monica Cross: Unicorn Cupcakes (one-minute)

What is better than Unicorns and Cupcakes? A play about Unicorns and Cupcakes written by Matthew Weaver! This absolutely adorable play teaches us that friendship and forgiveness can be take time... and cupcakes!

  • Monica Cross: I, Corn Dog

I, CORN DOG is a delicious monologue. The self-effacing Corn Dog is such an endearing protagonist, and the ending is delightfully horrifying!

  • Monica Cross: SOFT

I have the wonderful opportunity to see SOFT at the Minnesota Fringe in 2018 and this unsettling play has stuck with me ever since! Chewy is a fantastic part for a strong actor to sink his teeth into (I guess, kinda literally at times). Social commentary mixes with horror and sci-fi elements to masterful effect in J. Merrill Motz's writing.

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • Monica Cross: Thought of You, Hope You're Well, No Need to Write Back (a monologue)

This is the beautiful aftermath of a relationship. The resilience of moving on and the pain of being wronged. I love the way this piece acknowledges that feelings can persist even after being hurt. A beautiful monologue by Matthew Weaver!

  • Monica Cross: Public Comment

PUBLIC COMMENT is a brilliant 1-minute play. We clearly know the speaker. Even if her name weren't Karen, we would know her. And Clearly the Council Person knows her all to well. Adam Richter gives us a nice button at the end of the piece.

I would love to see this staged!

  • Monica Cross: Galatea

This play is AMAZING! MJ Kaufman builds on Lyly's fairytale and gives us so much more. It is fun and touching and address the elements of a play in a very modern way. This play is an ABSOLUTE delight!

  • Monica Cross: Function

FUNCTION is a fantastic play! It turns the turing test on its head in the most exciting way! I heard the play read at a MUSE event hosted by Turn to Flesh Productions and was blown away by this Rollercoaster of a play! This play keeps audiences guessing LONG after reading/seeing this piece. A stunning piece of science fiction on stage!

  • Monica Cross: The Other, Other Woman

THE OTHER, OTHER WOMAN lives up to it's subtitle in every way: "An Emotional Horror Story Wrapped in a French Farce." The high paced antics of an entire town falling in and out of one another's beds is unscored by the unsettling choices the characters make in the name of duty and responsibility. Emily C. A. Snyder skillfully uses verse, rhyme, and rhetoric to give the script a richness which jumps off the page. This play is very playful, and it is exactly that element that heightens the devastating undertones of the script.

    Execellently done!
