  • Monica Cross: Water Damage

Oh man! What a play! WATER DAMAGE is a haunting play about Trauma. And I don't mean that in a funny this is a play about a ghost, sort of way. The imagery, metaphor, and supernatural depictions that Daniel Prillaman use to confront domestic abuse linger long after the play itself is over.

    Beautifully done! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • Monica Cross: Got a Light?

I was fortunate to see GOT A LIGHT? at the Oregon One Act Festival. This play is a mix of light hearted banter and deadly consequences. Jean Koppen asks us to consider how we put our conviction into action. Both are strong roles and the play is packed with comic moments. It's a great 2 hander!

  • Monica Cross: The Ones Who Adapt

I had the pleasure of seeing THE ONES WHO ADAPT at the Oregon One Act Festival. From the opening moment, this play drew me in! Alien parasites taking human hosts. So much fun! But the obstacles that they face seem insurmountable until they realize that they can manipulate humanity. It's clever and timely and a fantastic show!

  • Monica Cross: Art in Quotation Marks (A One-Minute Play)

The question of what makes something "art" comes up frequently. DC Cathro does an excellent job of putting it in perspective here. Powerful insight wrapped in a comic packaging. Wonderfully done!

  • Monica Cross: Action Figures

A great one minute play about the people who inspire us. Beautiful!

  • Monica Cross: SEX, LIES & STYROFOAM - a ten minute comedy

I came here to say "Talk about airing your dirty laundry" and realized that the previous recommended also started that way. This play is just that iconic! Arianna Rose spills the tea in this 10-minute play. There are two very fun roles for women (one 50s-60s and the other 30s) and a bunch of fun for a props designer (handcuffs, feathers, and more). I heard a radio drama adaptation of this play at Theatre Odyssey's 10 minute play festival 2021. It worked great in that format, and left a lot of fun up to the imagination.

  • Monica Cross: Antoine at the Border

I saw ANTOINE AT THE BORDER as part of the Oregon One Act Festival 2021.

This play uses Marie Antionette to explore female relationships, class, and societal expectations. The connection between these two women is vibrant, and they go on such a journey together in this 10-minute play. Touching and humorous!

  • Monica Cross: ANTAGONISM, OR, SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO P*SS IN THE POOL [A 1-MINUTE PLAY]

I adore Steve Martin's 1-minute plays. ANTAGONISM, OR, SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO P*SS IN THE POOL is no exception! It is full of whismy and full of life lessons. It is economical in it's language and full of fantastic physical storytelling. Wonderful!

  • Monica Cross: Random Acts of Kindness - a ten minute play

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS is a sweet play with a great role for a child with ASD.

I got to see JCTC's production on zoom. Great moments of connection!

  • Monica Cross: Eighty-Seven Keys (a monologue)

I had the honor of hear this monologue in Scott's own voice.

This script grapples with the unimaginable task of quantifying the loss of a friend. And yet Scott does just that: "There could be an infinity of joy, but you would be rounding up because the joy in the universe would be infinity minus Rick."

Beautifully done, Scott. I am so sorry for your loss.
