  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Annie Jump and the Library of Heaven

Very inspiring beautifully written play! I love the theatricality of Althea and the magic that takes place before our eyes, but the character of Annie is endearing and important, a feminist shero who is dealing with much more than science!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Medusa Slain by Perseus

Love this new version! My favorite parts are the Gorgons and how they learn little by little not to eat stones and how to tell stories, or maybe my favorite parts are all the different terrible kings, or maybe my favorite parts are how inadvertently Perseus becomes a murderer and won't own that, or maybe my favorite parts are all the amazing action sequences or the grandfather's realization or Danae's reunion in the palace of her birth or... I could go on and on! It is a glorious mythical enchantment of a play!

Very super-fun and funny monologue that I would love to see onstage in NYC! Fresh Fruit Festival? The charisma - the imperial they! - just oozes off the page!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: CONTRAPPOSTO

How much fun is it to go back to the 15th Century and see Botticelli create Venus? Probably not half as much fun as seeing this play! In Carnes' invention Venus gets to argue over how she'll be painted, and Venus is a feminist! Great work!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Bazookas

Adorable and funny - as a flat-chested woman who remembers the exact name of the girl in 6th Grade who got boobs when I didn't - I can totally relate! It's a great concept and well-executed!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Comb Your Hair (Or You'll Look Like a Slave)

Beautiful, funny at times, angry at times, and sad - lotsa sadness and heart. I think of my own (white girl) hair issues and I fall in love with these vignettes. From the girls with their blonde towel hair to the Duplicates and finally the one who falls - a wonderful play about Black women living and dying - Jackson makes the invisible visible, and we should all pay attention.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Fénix

This is a brilliant monologue that gets to the heart of the hatred of women that we all live with across the globe. Burbano's artistry and craft allows us to question assumptions of how we are brought up to think of women as flesh first, how we are immersed in a global culture of objectification, and hopefully how we can learn to see women as human beings, people, yes, even triumphant heroes who refuse to disappear, be silenced or hide.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: MONESSEN FALLS

For a family drama, Monessen Falls feels dangerously exciting while Burdick still manages to keep it very real. There is nothing here that smacks of anything ordinary, and the play twists and turns on its own terms. Very well written!

This rings so true! Hageman has created a super monologue for teens that seems to really capture the power of the emotions in those difficult years. Kudos!
