A fascinating 10-minute play that makes you feel like a fly on the wall in this conversation between a teacher and student. Lang does an excellent job of conveying the importance of storytelling and writing with these well-written, complex characters.

  • Shaun Leisher: For This Panic Attack

This play beautifully captures the feeling of a panic attack in it's pacing and the weaving of the inner monologue with "real-time" character moments is absolutely brilliant.

I am just blown away by the depths that Lang was able to go to in the relationship of these two sisters in such a short amount of time. This play is a gift to young actors.

  • Shaun Leisher: who's mom and who's mama

A short play with so much heart. Lang tackles an aspect of the queer experience that is not looked at very often on stage but she also does so without making this play about the characters' queerness. They are just soon to be parents dealing with what all soon to be parents go through. So refeshing.

  • Shaun Leisher: Apologies to Lorraine Hansberry (You Too August Wilson)

"Blackness is not a monolith." This statement is the crux of what this play is about but it is so much more than that. Rachel Lynett has given a gift to Black actors and audiences to see their struggles around anti-blackness portrayed on stage. White people are welcome to bear witness to this world that is not made for them but we have to understand it is not for us. The theatrical magic bursting out of this play thrills me. Theatres just need to devote whole seasons to Rachel Lynett's work.

  • Shaun Leisher: You Have To Promise

A play that truly deserves to be in the high school theatre canon. It's just so honest in its depiction of foung love and parental struggles. Lang treats the lives of these seventeen year old with the seriousness and respect they deserve and how she allows the parent figure to not have her shit together at all times was so beautiful. PRODUCE THIS PLAY!!!

This play tells such a specific story but Lang still is able to make it so relatable. Also, I love how Lang allows the queer couple in the play to just be and not have their queerness be something to overcome. Liked spending time with these marvelously flawed characters.

  • Shaun Leisher: I'm f*cking tired of writing plays about this

This play is a cry of frustrated and tired Black playwrights everywhere. White theatre artists need to support this play and listen hard to its cry.

This play went places I really didn’t expect it to and I was enthralled with every page. Love how theatrical this play is with the direct address and fast paced scenes and these characters are endlessly fascinating.
