A horrifying short play that I need to see fully produced.

Was unaware about this Chekhov piece this short play was based. I want to go and read it now but Barsanti really makes this feel like it's own thing. Such a timely issue to tackle and it's done so in such a unexpected way.

  • Shaun Leisher: Be Careful What You Wish For Part 287: The Return of the Monkey Paw

Such an interesting and fresh take on a classic story. Can't wait to see actors dig into these roles.

  • Shaun Leisher: “Is Christmas A Commercial Holiday?” An Oral Report By Susi Kirkland

Hilarious ten minute play that covers a lot of ground while being well-contained in it's clever framing device.

  • Shaun Leisher: Akrasia

This is most definitely not your average boy meets girl play. It is a play filled with nuance and messy questions as it forces us to look at the individual's journey towards healing and how people can still hurt others while they are "working on themselves." I can't wait to see this play get produced because it is going to create some really uncomfortable dialogue that needs to be happening.

  • Shaun Leisher: With Dignity

A really compelling family drama told in real time about an extremely complicated issue. Though we only get to know for a little bit, Fragnito has written them so well that you feel like they could be part of your own family.

  • Shaun Leisher: Lily Ineffable

This play went places that I never expected and I am so glad Lang went there. This is an issue in theatre that needs to be addressed and the way Lang approaches it from a place of powerful magic and almost exclusively through the eyes of children is so impactful. I hope this play gets around in the Broadway community.

  • Shaun Leisher: Dear Anna

Such a gut-wrenching depiction of a unique relationship featuring very messy and honest characters. What Lang is saying here about the sacrifices we must make for those we love is something that is going to stick with me for a long time.

This is a play for the #metoo era unlike any other play I've ever read about this time in history. It's important that we never know the details of what happened to these women in middle school. We don't need to know the details. We just need to know a male student did something awful to them and they are all still dealing with it in their own ways. I hope people will produce this play and not focus on what the man does and try judge it's severity but just believe women and give them the help they need.
