This play is a brilliant use of theatrical magic to explore the inner thoughts of a person struggling with depression. I loved the seamless transitions between fantasy and reality and the shear honesty of the dialogue. We need more plays that deal with mental health with this kind of vulnerability.

  • Shaun Leisher: Br'er Cotton

A truly vital play that will grip audiences from beginning to end.

  • Shaun Leisher: The Review or How to Eat Your Opposition

Such a great play about the role of artist and critic and how each need each other. This play is a true gift for actors that are anxious to dig into complex and multilayered women. Hope this play gets productions soon.

    J. Julian Christopher's play expertly uses pure theatrical magic to tell a compelling story about a pair of cousins discovering their identities and struggling with everyday life. I can't wait to see the reading of this ast this year's PlayPenn conference.

Please ask writers to write plays that seem hard to produce and then PRODUCE THEM!!! Kara Lee Corthron has written a trippy play that is so vital to what's going on in society today around how narratives about women are told and who gets to tell them. It's a play that calls to adventurous directors. Somebody needs to do this play NOW!!!!

I really liked this play!! The idea of pain is used so effectively to force this couple to look at the things in their lives they have been burying. It's a play about telling people what they want to hear. A play about finding answers but refuses to give one in the end.

Burbano has done a great job adapting Ibsen's play about one man's quest for the truth. This play is so relevant not only with the troubles in Flint but how it looks at how our current media can be a tool for and against spreading facts. This play features really great roles for women and I hope to see it produced all over as a reminder of what's happening in Flint and how the mighty few will go to far lengths to suppress information no matter who is hurt.

  • Shaun Leisher: Sheltered

Besides just being an extremely well-crafted play, this piece is one of the most timeliest plays I've read in recent years. It asks big questions and gives us characters that do noble things sometimes through less than noble means. Using a fictionalized version of a story that so few have heard of from WWII, Sobler asks to look at what our nation's place in helping the world is. A play that should be seen everywhere but especially in Red States.

  • Shaun Leisher: Good Cuban Girls

It's really hard to put my finger on what kind of play this is. It's a play about a Cuban family but a lot of it is about a family that just happens to be Cuban. It has themes that make you think it's a immigrant story or at least the effects of an immigrant's journey but not exactly. What I can say for sure is that this is a great play. The roles are so complex and a feast for actors and the dance segments fascinate me. I really hope companies grow some balls and produce this.

  • Shaun Leisher: Las Mujeres

I was so upset I missed this play when it premiered in Philly but I have a feeling it will be produced more and all over. I beautiful play with complicated and rich roles for Latinx women. It's a great way for audiences to learn about the women who blazed the trails for women today and those that are still fighting for equality. Will make you laugh, cry and leave inspired to take down the patriarchy!!!
