  • Shaun Leisher: Cheerleaders VS Aliens

This play excites me so much I might BURST!!! Having worked in high school and middle school theatre education I have long bemoaned the lack of quality scripts for young actors where they get to play characters their own age. Along comes this hilarious, whimsical play with a large cast of mostly females (which rocks since they are the vast majority of members of school theatre programs) to save the day!!! Not only are there a bunch of roles for girls but they are 3 dimensional characters!!! Will be recommending to all my theatre educator friends.

  • Shaun Leisher: All Our Yesterdays

This is a really good play about a moment in history that was once all over social media but by so many has been forgotten. By using flashbacks, Hung shows that all these girls wanted was the ability to learn and never imagined it would lead to their kidnapping. A play that requires very little in terms of set but in the hands of 2 talented actors could be extremely transporting.

  • Shaun Leisher: TRAYF

This play is so much fun!!! I really hope it gets produced all over. While being about such a specific culture, this play is able to convey a theme of longing for more out of life that we all can empathize with. More faith-based plays like this need to be written.

  • Shaun Leisher: FUCK CANCER

A really interesting plays that addresses illness and the ethics of medicine in such a highly theatrical way. I'd be very interested in seeing the different ways that directors, actors and designers will create the magical images that Jagernauth has written.

  • Shaun Leisher: Prayers in the Pines

This 10 minute play was right up my alley as someone who loves swapping ghost stories. In such a short amount of time, Partain gives us three dimensional women on a camping trip as they deal with the fears that come with being in the great outdoors.

  • Shaun Leisher: Shimmers

A heartfelt play that can remind us of the magic of theatre.

  • Shaun Leisher: What You Deserve (a monologue)

Such a fun monologue!! It's the kind of speech I feel like is seen a lot in theatre and film but Partain has really made it fresh with this fascinating woman she's created.

  • Shaun Leisher: Backfired (a monologue)

One of the best monologues for high school actors I've ever read. Partain expertly captures the voice of a teenage girl that should be worrying about who she'll be going to the school dance with instead of being murdered. A chilling reminder that while politicians debate the 2nd amendment, children are losing their lives.

  • Shaun Leisher: Trouble in Kind

A haunting play about the lines people are forced to stay behind because of who they are. Svich's poetic dialogue is beautiful as always. This play truly captures a feeling of ancient storytelling while depicting a modern world and serves as a reminder of the power and necessity of storytelling as a way to remember the past, mourn the present and envision the future.

  • Shaun Leisher: This is How you Got Me Naked or My Sexy Fairytale

Honest is the main adjective that comes to mind when I think of the plays of Catherine Weingarten. There are very few writers out there that capture the truth of millennial speak as well and this play really shows that. Sexual relationships between undergrads certainly isn't new in art but it hasn't been told this way. Its such a tight play and I love how complex the women are compared to the doofus guys.
