  • Shaun Leisher: Pity The Woman Who Never Spills

Lawrence's play capture a time in high school when you are so close to graduating and going to college but you still have to deal with so much of the bullshit that is high school. Sammy and Mary are great characters that are just trying to figure out what they mean to each other either as platonic friends or something more. The character of Ms. Sanders also gives this play some interesting things to say. What is it like to return to your hometown after following your dreams. I really liked this play and hope it gets produced.

  • Shaun Leisher: Tremolo

Moro has written a stunning piece of theatre that is a brilliant take on Chekhov's The Seagull and a heartbreaking love letter to chosen family in queer communities. I loved how intergenerational this play is and how everyone has so much to learn from each other. The dialogue is pure fire as discussion topics shift from sex to the power of art. I can't wait to see this produced. Give Chekhov a rest and produce this play instead. This lake is its own character and I loved the atmosphere it creates. This will be a blast for a sound designer.

  • Shaun Leisher: In Case of Bruising

A play about growing up and how some children don't get the chance to just be kids. Pain and suffering just gets piled and piled on these characters. You can't help but feel for them and hope that they will break out of this cycle of violence. I found the use of the one character playing all the adult roles to be really effective. I loved the moments when Adult Milo and Adult Otis take over and get to look back on their childhood. I hope this moving play gets produced soon.

  • Shaun Leisher: Boys' Club (No Girls Aloud)

This went was definitely not what I expected and I loved every second of it. A play about a femme human trying to make it in a man's world. A play about a niche subculture that I never thought would make for good theatre. I loved the constant pop culture references and the way gender is played with here. I loved the shocking plot twists that I definitely won't be spoiling here. Mel is such an interesting character and I can't wait to see an actor take on this role. Please produce this play.

  • Shaun Leisher: Satan v. The Indiana Abortion Ban

A brilliant horror satire that skewers the debate on abortion that is happening in our nation. I really hope this play starts some much needed conversation on how awful the abortion bans across our nation are. This play features some really great female characters on both sides of this debate. This play may be very dark and depressing but it is not without humor. The character Kathy especially does a great job about portraying how absolutely laughable and hyprocritical the Religious Right is.

  • Shaun Leisher: Can You Dance the Merengue?

A classic girl meets girl moment. I adored this play. A look into a moment between two college-aged lesbians. One very sure of herself and one who is just trying to figure everything out. Loved the small details like it being chess night and the shitty processed pumpkin pie. Loved that this is a play about two Latinas that don't fall into stereotypes. These are fully fleshed characters that you can't help but fall in love with. Things move fast in this short play but it always feels very believable.

  • Shaun Leisher: Left Overs

A really sweet and funny short play that I found very moving. A play about death and how that changes how we feel about the people we cared about. Ernest could have been a better father and he's really trying to make up for it now. Max never really knew his father and he is doing his best to honor him in death. These character definitely get off to the wrong start but it's nice to see them grow into being friends. This play has great roles for a younger and older actor.

  • Shaun Leisher: Pretty Privilege

The conversation around colorism in mainstream media is such an important one. Majule does a great job at capturing this issue and mining it for so much drama. I'm amazed by how deep this play gets in so few pages. There is so much about this issue that I'm not aware of as a white person. I really appreciated Majule taking the time to educate while also writing something so emotionally compelling. These two characters felt like real people and not just plot devices.

  • Shaun Leisher: When The Party's Over

Wow!!! This play really knocked me out. I just can't wait to see it fully realized in a production. The moments of dance and movement were brilliant and did a great job at giving us more insight into what the characters are thinking. I loved the way the DJ and the beat connect the scenes. I loved the choice to write the dialogue in heightened verse. It makes the play feel poetic and epic. I feel like I've read plays about college and addiction before but nothing like this. A stunning ensemble piece that really moved me.

  • Shaun Leisher: Gorgeous

A wonderful two-hander featuring characters that begin totally at odds before finding things that connect them. I really enjoyed getting to spend time with these two women even when they are at their worst. This is a play about people getting what is owed to them. It's a play about people that have done fucked up things in the past and whether or not they can really change. This play is also about the prejudice faced by Asian Americans. I loved this play and hope that it gets produced all over.
