  • Shaun Leisher: the pits

A great coming of age play. Johnson really captures how awkward middle school can be. I loved how much time he gives to both the students and the teacher in this play. If we didn't have one, we could have all used a Mr. X in our lives. Really well-written characters. Somebody produce this play.

  • Shaun Leisher: How to Draw a Triangle

I really adore this play. Aaron just wants the world to love what he loves and Ms. Jimenez just wants him to survive. It's a complicated relationship but their moments together melted my heart. A wonderful memory play that I hope to see produced very soon.

  • Shaun Leisher: ICONS

"You can’t put a price tag on a person’s life."

An excellent play about legacy and art. A piece of work that is full of surprises and goes to some wonderfully bizarre places. This play has some killer monologues for Black actors.

  • Shaun Leisher: This House Is for Laughing

I was lucky enough to see a reading of this play. It's so good. Really complicated characters involved in a complicated scenario. I don't want to say much else to let readers be surprised. This is just a really good play by one of my favorite new playwrights.

  • Shaun Leisher: I'm Pretty Fucked Up

A hysterical play about such a dark subject matter. Stess brilliantly captures the lives of young people as they navigate life, love and a truly terrifying situation. Fantastic dialogue and well-fleshed out characters.

  • Shaun Leisher: Nightwatch

A moving play about remembering where you come from. This family is full of rich characters. Would love to see this produced.

  • Shaun Leisher: Tiny Thin Woman Inside

I hope this play gets produced very soon. It says some really interesting things about society's obsession with thinness. It's a black comedy about a woman wanting to be accepted no matter her size. Well-written and nuanced representation of queer love too.

  • Shaun Leisher: Everything, Devoured

I need to see this play produced NOW!!!! A play that asks if our future is one worth fighting for. I loved getting to know these characters and the ending is astonishing. This play is certainly not subtle. Big questions are being tackled here and Gwynn tackles them brilliantly.

  • Shaun Leisher: Screen Time

A hilarious satire about parenting in the world of smartphones. Cho has wonderfully captured the anxieties and fears of being a parent for the first time. Things in this play get really dark but Cho always finds the pitch black humor in any situation.

  • Shaun Leisher: Proximity

A great play about humans connecting during unique times. A play set during the pandemic that feels fresh. A play that seamlessly alternates between direct address and dialogue between characters in this world.
