  • Steven Hayet: Penny for Your Traumas?

A beautiful short play about the literal monsters that follow us. Partain's choice to portray the physical manifestation of our protagonist’s internal pain and trauma is brilliant. A director would love the creative staging opportunities this monster provides. Can’t wait to see this play on stage. Read it. Produce it.

  • Steven Hayet: The Invention of Time

Wow. The Invention of Time is a terrific short play. Franky Gonzalez has written a brilliantly fascinating conversation between two inmates regarding the concept of time, the significance of hope, and the rules of society that'll have you thinking long after you read "End of Play." If time exists, use some of it to read this and then add "Even Flowers Bloom in Hell, Sometimes" to your NPX Reading List. I just did.

  • Steven Hayet: A Very Special Holiday Special (An Evening of Holiday Plays)

I was lucky to be able to see "Oh, Tannenbaum" and "A Very Special Hanukkah Special" at City Theatre's Winter Shorts festival.
"Oh, Tannenbaum" is the perfect show for any actor who aspires to play a tree. A funny clever discussion about getting along despite differences.
"A Very Special Hanukkah Special" is a hysterical short about a man who wants Hanukkah to be as popular as Christmas. This play is incredibly clever and just a joy to watch. You couldn't ask for a better Hannukah gift than these Mark Harvey Levine holiday plays.

  • Steven Hayet: Ask Me Anything

This play is absolutely hysterical. We've all been on job interviews and we've all been asked tough questions, but Williams takes it five steps further. Incredibly clever. Both Martin & Steve are roles actors would have a ton of fun with. Would love to see this on stage. Well done!

  • Steven Hayet: 172 PUSH-UPS

I constantly see 172 PUSH-UPS being performed at festival after festival and after reading it, it's clear why: Scott Mullen has written a truly brilliant piece. It is beautiful and honest and incredibly touching. Mullen takes two characters who on paper couldn't be more different, but connect through shared experiences. If you are teaching a class on how to write a 10-minute play, this better be on the syllabus. Bravo.

  • Steven Hayet: The Thought Doesn't Count

A truly beautiful piece. Incredibly touching and funny. Hageman has created two real and genuine characters that would be a joy for any two actors to portray. Would love to see this on stage.

  • Steven Hayet: The Morning After The Fall

Such a clever play! Bavoso puts a spin on the classic story that is fresh, original, and just downright funny. There were several lines that had me laughing out loud. This play also has a ton of heart. Would be a great addition to any short play festival.

  • Steven Hayet: White Noise

A very funny concept. Instead of having to constantly hear about all that's wrong in the world today, Martin provides the solution to just block it out. A humorous take on privilege. Would work really well as a radio play.

  • Steven Hayet: The Eulogy

A beautiful piece about a relationship that could have been. Sweet, touching, funny. Perfect for any ten-minute play festival.

  • Steven Hayet: THE BIG RIDE

A beautiful play that takes us on a 400-mile romantic journey in only 10 minutes and in reverse. Walker truly has a gift of being able to share with her audiences so much about her characters in so few words. Would love to see this on stage. Producers, make it happen!
