  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: Don't Step in That!

Hilarious little play about human nature. A great addition to any 1 min play festival!

  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: COFFEE MUG

This piece has all the hallmarks of a great 1 minute play: 1) a familiar, relatable scenario 2) funny, opposing dialogue, and 3) a big (naughty?) button at the end.

  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: The Gift of Time

Pfeffinger's short may seem a little too familiar to all of us creative types suddenly granted the gift (or is it?) of time. Show of hands: how many of us have been in these shoes so far? First I smiled, and then I panicked, and now I am recommending this piece to you. Think of it as a gift.

  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: Word Cloud (A Coronavirus Play)

Inspired, impressive, important work that should be included in many a COVID-19 festival lineup. Well done.

  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: Out of the Bag

Guyton has crafted a powerful one minute play with Out of the Bag. Ripe with tension, this piece plows towards it's unfortunate, inevitable end where it stops you dead in your tracks.

  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: RE-POLISHED

A lovely, hopeful piece. Perfect for high school actresses looking for audition or competition material. Carrie isn't naive, she's a poetic dreamer, and we need more hearts like hers.

  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: Preamble

Subtly theatrical and deeply human. The act of breathing -- our most essential function -- celebrated simply. I was oddly calmed just by reading this, and felt myself transitioning into an actor's headspace. I felt my mind and body relax; I prepared for action. Wonderful and necessary for today.

  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: To Serve & Protect: Remix

    Haunting.

Produce this play in every city in the US. Produce this play until it stops being necessary. Produce this play until we CAN hear their voices. Produce this play.

  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: Vanilla

At once engaging and surprising, this play is not what I expected, in a good way. Sickles shows once again that his creativity can't be quarantined.

  • Elisabeth Giffin Speckman: WHAT WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR

"We raise our hands, when we know the answer — We speak, when spoken to."

The beautiful--and tragic--thing about this play is that it is applicable to so many situations, and perhaps too many eras. I love that this play focuses on the future and on action, and I hope someday it isn't as necessary as it is today.

Great work, as always, by Carnes.
