  • Lee R. Lawing: The Elephant and the Light in Claire's Suitcase

As beautiful in its execution as it is haunting and sad in how it plays out. Dealing with aging parents and having lost my father a few years back, I latched on to Claire and her suitcase and my heart is full for her. Romero's writing is sheer poetry which leaves the reader breathless with wonder.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Brandi Alexander

This is a brilliant monologue and one of those ones that will haunt you long after you've finished reading it. The set up is a one of genius, the stand-up comedian just doing her new routine for the audience. I was left shaken by Pavela's powerful words and I will long remember this and keep hoping every day that better times are all ahead of us.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Kinsey

Kinsey is a breath of fresh air. Moss infuses this character with such realistic emotions that dance around the room like those Lucky Charms that keep falling into Kinsey's bowl. She may be 14 but these feelings and actions are ones that everyone can relate to and understand during those emotional times in our lives where we don't know which way is up or down.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Faith

What a terrific monologue. I was raised in the church and this story was always one that seemed as horrifying as any could be and then when I had a son I thought it did become nothing more than a horror story. Barbot's Abraham is as real a character as any next door neighbor and I admire his questioning God because in the end for me questioning is what make us stronger and wiser and bring us to a more enlightened belief system than we had ever imagined possible.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Crush Hour

I love Teresa for claiming her seat! I love her attitude and determination to get what is hers. Crowded commutes are horrific enough and so well known to most all of us. This monologue was funny and the end line too perfect!

  • Lee R. Lawing: Parent / Teacher Night, a Monologue

Boyle captures the harried teacher so well. I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to be in this profession and I admire those who are. I admire this monologue as well especially the surprise ending.

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Interior

Mesmerizing right out of the gate and it never lets up! The Interior is one great monologue--funny and scary and so well written!

Saw Miranda Jonte read this on Back Porch Theater April 2021 and the well written words were so nice to hear live!!!

  • Lee R. Lawing: God's Retribution

A sweet and funny play about the growing pains of aging--at the ripe old age of 26. Bultrowicz brings such warmth to this play about those things that we use to cover up our deeper set fears and our hope that in the end we can find those people around us who will love us for all our faults and wrinkles.

  • Lee R. Lawing: JUGGLING WITH MR. FIELDS

I enjoyed this play so much! O'Grady takes real-life people and breaths that dose of believability into these movie stars to make them fresh and exciting. I didn't grow up a Fields fan but after reading this play want to see more of his films and also to read more about him which for me is the mark of any great piece of literature or art or film--encouraging the audience to not only leave the show feeling that they've seen something worthwhile, but also spark that curiosity to discover more about these stars we admire so much.
