  • Lee R. Lawing: The Cask of Amontillado, adapted from Edgar Allan Poe's short story of the same name

Perfect play for any horror or Halloween festival but also just a very rich and atmospheric adaptation of the Edgar Allan Poe story which pulls the reader and viewer in like spider's web. I love Martin's writing and he and Poe together make for such a great combination.

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Strangest of All Rooms

Whenever I read Hageman's work I feel transported into a magical space that's full of poetry and awe. This play is one of heart-wrenching simplicity and that simplicity of action and words makes for such a forceful and potent combination which leaps off the page for the reader and for anyone in the audience watching. I"m always inspired by Hageman's work and look forward to reading more.

  • Lee R. Lawing: THE PLATYPODES

A play that stays with you long after you’ve read it and one that should be on the stage! All the things that make Wyndham’s short pieces such masterful looks into the human condition are on grand effect in this full-length. The brave story-telling, the up-to-date themes and reflection of the world around us. A kind note to every one to add this to your reading list if you haven’t and for theaters to please put this on your stage as one of your shows in your upcoming season.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Big Baby and the Ticker Tape Parade

This play is fascinating and on so many levels. I love it for it's bizarre plot line (everyone should use a Big Baby in their work!) and the dialogue between the stock brokers and baby. I feel that I've just read something breathlessly original and timeless. Would make for a great entry at any ten minute play festival.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Smashed

This play had me cringing with panic as John went down the rabbit hole of drunk dialing his ex, but oh what a completely exhilarating rabbit hole it was. I won't ever be able to look at a microwave bag of popcorn ever again without thinking of this play and the first-rate writing of Hovanesian.

  • Lee R. Lawing: ELLA-BELLA, THE BOOK FAIRY: A CHILDREN'S LIBRARIAN MONOLOGUE

Whenever I read a Wyndham play I feel I learn so much about the world around me that I never got from being in school and it’s this world that is so laid out for me to learn from, to glean from what I can about those around me. And he does it with that touch of delicious humor and insight. I am looking forward to Volumn 2 of this monologue series.

  • Lee R. Lawing: George Orwell’s 1989: A “Swift” 10 Minute Adaptation

What a great play. Loved the Taylor Swift as Big Sister. Frightfully funny for a horror fest (if you're not a Swift Fan) and one of pure comedy genius (if you are!). I hover between the two so enjoyed it from both viewpoints. Do yourself a favor and lay down the notebook and read this play today!

  • Lee R. Lawing: BULL SHARK ATTACK

I love checking out the NPX play of the day and even more so when I read a gem like this. What an experience. I love that it was all monologues building into a thriller-esque drama which surprises the readers as much as pleases them, all with Deutsch's beautiful writing standing front and center.

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Aftermath

For an exercise this is pretty damn good. Funny, intelligent with pathos to boot. I'll take any master class from Weaver whenever he is offering one and until then will continue to read his plays for inspiration!
