Such a great play. Beautifully constructed with such heart-breaking language and all from fish. This play inspires as much as it teaches and would be a great addition at any short play festival.

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Boy Who Drew Cats

Such a beautiful tale brought to poetic life. The tale is new to me so I'm in awe of it and that discovery, but more than that I'm in awe of the elegant writing of Lam. Thank you for sharing this on NPX!

  • Lee R. Lawing: TATTOO: A Tale of Terror

This is a true horror classic and so well written. I was immediately drawn into the story and held my breath until the very spine-tingling ending! A tale of terror indeed!

  • Lee R. Lawing: Vamping

Such a great monologue! It brings back that awe that we all have in high school at discovering those things that excite us or inspire us. For me it was actually Bette Davis and I did my 12th grade term paper on her career so I love Vamping for bringing back those memories of a time when I was so eager to read as much as I could about the old film world and which carried my love of those movies forward to this day. Thank you Burbano for a great monologue!

  • Lee R. Lawing: THIRSTY

What a delight to watch this play on YouTube. Thanks first for sharing this production on NPX so that we can all see it. Vampires, dating apps, dildos. The mix is dramatic and comedic and sweet to see live, but what makes this play sing is the writing by Hovanesian which I've grown to admire and be inspired by with each and every piece. He brings to the stage a new voice that's exciting and fresh and to every writer out there, add one (if not all!) of his plays to your reading list today!! You won't be disappointed.

  • Lee R. Lawing: THEY STOLE HEMINGWAY'S BRAIN! (Halloween - Horror)

A perfect cross between those schlock (but brilliant) 1950s Brain Sci-Fi movies and a “post-post-and another post-modern” application of feminist theory brought to life in this great farce. A perfect play for Halloween but this play has much oomph than just a seasonal spot and would find a welcome audience in many short play festivals world-wide.

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Mysterious Affair at the Christies

Being a Christie fan for life I was drawn immediately to the title but then upon reading the play found a heartbreaking account of an imagined conversation between Agatha and Archie that is so painfully real that it just jumped off the page with a sucker punch to the gut. We all know how solitary the writer's life can be and O'Grady calls attention to this fact with such realism that it made me look over my shoulder at my own life and the Archies who were standing there waiting for something other than a pen for dinner.

  • Lee R. Lawing: JAX: A MONOLOGUE FOR A TRANS MALE ACTOR

Whenever I read Wyndham's work I am amazed at each and every distinct voice that just flow's so effortlessly from his pen to the page. I am also in awe of these voices that are introductions to me of those who are fighting every day for just a bit of dignity and a place in this world. JAX is no different and would be a tremendous role for any trans male actor to perform.

  • Lee R. Lawing: A Dream Of Japanese Horror

What a breath of fresh air! Matsushita sets an amazing course in motion with this perfect short play. The poetry of the reveal is handled so skillfully--and with a dash of humor that makes one smile throughout.

  • Lee R. Lawing: The First Adventure of Puss In Boots

This is such a sweet and endearing play. I love the humor and the part where the cast debate the use of pop culture references is great. What a delightful play by Robert and I look forward to reading more of his work.
