  • Lee R. Lawing: SOME AMERICANS: SOME MONOLOGUES

WOW!! And times that by infinity. Asher ignites the world with his writing. I stand back in awe and appreciation of his talents as a writer and chameleon of magical proportions. Reading his monologues shows me the America that I know is out there and who are fighting every day to be recognized and Asher captures every single battle so brilliantly.

  • Lee R. Lawing: 800 Miles

What a beautiful and funny and sad play. The emotions are all too real and what Goldman-Sherman does with this "empty nest" play is just short of miraculous We are raised up in so many myths as humans that we forget sometimes that they are indeed that and we as humans we rush forward in them looking for all the answers. Goldman-Sherman has shared so many here in this brilliant play that we should look no further in help with being adults and parents and humans.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Hi. My Name is Wendy. And I'm in Love with a...Lost Boy

Such an imaginative way to bring a familiar tale into uncharted territory. I love Walker's writing and view of the world. What a play to see staged!

  • Lee R. Lawing: The Gift of da Maggies

What a beautiful re-telling of the O'Henry story. Magical and beautiful all in one. I'm always amazed at how much can be said in very few words and this play does just that. Would have loved to have seen this performed when it was produced.

  • Lee R. Lawing: Football Monologue #4

A powerful monologue which which hits hard at a deeper set of pains. Susan would be a great monologue for an actor to read. Great stuff!

  • Lee R. Lawing: SLEEPYHEAD: A GAY MONOLOGUE

What a great monologue. Again just so spot on and realistic and there's never a better way to start any day than by reading a monologue by the talented and gifted Asher Wyndham. One of the things I love about Wyndham's monologues is that I'm so immediately just part of the action that I feel it's all happening to me personally. Maybe that's the very small actor that's inside or just the fact that he hits the nail on the head of the world around us so perfectly!!

  • Lee R. Lawing: PRACTICE HOUSE

If ever a subject matter and playwright meshed up perfectly it's in this play "Practice House" by Rachael Carnes. When I saw that it was done and posted here I made it the required reading for this Sunday and what a perfect piece of theater. The humor and the zing of Carnes's trademark style is in full force with this wonderful piece and it would be an honor for any theater to stage this masterful look which revisits a bit of history but done so with Carnes' incredible insight and force. Recommended reading for everyone!!!

  • Lee R. Lawing: A Wake in Bakersfield

Love this play! Love the crazy dark humor and how well written it is. How the connections all unfold as it goes along. Wakes and funerals area always a great set-up for a play, but Billman's play goes way beyond this and seems effortlessly refreshing like a great bottle of bubbly!

  • Lee R. Lawing: dad shot himself and left behind a box of kink porn

There are always what seems to be those topics we all stay away from with writing and especially in theater, but Walker's intense and well written short "dad . . . " play goes right in with such surety and the impact of the ending was as shocking as it was revealing and did not seem at all shocking for shock value either, but just a touch of macabre that was so perfect. As the other person said, this is theater that is sorely missing from the stage right now and I would like to see more!

  • Lee R. Lawing: INERTIA

What a delightful treat! Such a great original play with a sock monkey. Minky should have his own coffee table book and fan club for which I would gladly be the Vice-President!!
