  • Rachel Bublitz: The Last Ring

There is so much excitement and life in this play! It would be incredible to see this fully realized, wrestling ring and all. THE LAST RING has some fantastic roles for women who are ready to get sweaty and rough on stage. Really well done.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Hyannis

This is a beautiful and gut wrenching play about love, family, addiction, and what happens when all three intersect. It had me in tears multiple times reading it off the page. Each character is so full and complex. I was grabbed from the very first page. Would love to see this produced. Excellent work.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Sweetheart Come

I was lucky to catch the production of this at Pygmalion Productions. It's a sharp and an incredibly imaginative play. SWEETHEART COME exposes loneliness, longing, and what can happen to the mind and body of a person trapped. Larson offers three fantastic roles as well. Toward the end I nearly jumped out of my chair! Not an easy thing to accomplish in the theatre. Highly recommend!

  • Rachel Bublitz: Priapus Pie: An American Tragedy

I am in love with this play. It is devious, devastating, delicious, and above all hilarious. The theatricality jumping through memories, fantasies, and the actual events of the evening is so well crafted. The play moves along at a fantastic pace, and I know about 100 actresses who would love to jump into the role of Alice Johnson. If you're looking for a dark comedy for your season look no further! Highly recommend!

  • Rachel Bublitz: Art & Class

A awful situation becomes the basis for a complicated and complex play. Bennett tackles censorship, art, gray areas of teaching and education, and what it feels like to be outside of a culture while living in it. ART & CLASS is funny and messy, and has a great characters for actors to dig into and grapple with.

  • Rachel Bublitz: The Way North

This play is wonderfully layered. Lacing together stories of survival, love, and the harsh truths both of nature and the world we live in. While grappling with relevant questions today, THE WAY NORTH is also super funny throughout, Palmquist is excellent at using humor to cut the dramatic tension of a scene. There's a pressure that builds throughout this play, with a completely earned ending that knocked my socks off. I saw THE WAY NORTH as a reading, and would love to see it fully produced. So well done.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Two Henrys

One of the most beautiful scripts I've read in along time. There were only about a hundred times I teared up reading it off the page, and laced throughout the play are also incredible moments of humanity and humor. I am a huge fan of Kenneth Jones' work. He has a deft hand with plays that capture touching and deep human moments, that never feel overly dramatized or overly sentimental. They're aren't overly anything in fact, they're wonderful and impeccable. I would LOVE to see this fully produced, it belongs in theaters' seasons all around the country.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Esther Choi and the Fish that Drowned

This play would be so devastating if it weren't for the incredible humor Walters uses throughout for levity. What this does to me instead, is create these intense moments of juxtaposition where my need to laugh and cry crash on top of one another. Would love to see this produced!

  • Rachel Bublitz: River.Swamp.Cave.Mountain.

I think it's so important to talk to kids about hard things. They have to figure out how to deal with grief and death, and hiding this unfortunate fact of life from them doesn't do them any favors. I got to see RIVER.SWAMP.CAVE.MOUNTAIN., and bring my kids to see it, when it was produced at Plan-B. It was engaging, thoughtful, and funny.

  • Rachel Bublitz: Eureka Day

This play is fantastic. It’s funny and poignant and so very topical. Also, having lived in Berkeley (and raised kids there), Spector completely nails all the specifity of this environment. It was a treat to read, and would be incredible in production. Highly recommend more theaters pick this up and produce immediately!
