  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: The Talk Down

This was a roller coaster, but gosh was it so good! In theatre school a huge thing I hear is "subvert expectations," and this piece surely does just that! The characterizations of Mrs. May and Johnny are so well done, and I feel like this is a piece that people would love to see live.

This was such a cool piece. Very fun and a cool take on the afterlife. Gallo’s comedic timing is spot on in this piece, and the comedy seems so natural and real. Great work!

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: Feeling Lost

The concepts in this play are real, and many people can relate to these characters. This was a great example of being able to accomplish a lot with very little, and Gallo does a fantastic job at world building effortlessly and creating two extremely complex characters. Bravo!

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: Under the August Moon

Short but impactful, sweet yet devastating, Philip Middleton Williams delivers a wonderful outlook on death and the afterlife. While only two pages, he uses every bit of dialogue to create a very real conversation between two past (more than) friends. What I love about this show is the concept of moving on vs holding on to what was left on earth.

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: You've Reached Justin

Wow, this was beautiful. I am a sucker for anything minimalistic, and this proves that the only thing you need to make an impact is a top notch playwright and a talented actor or two. The role of Daniel is one that any Latino actor should hope to play, it is such a complex and in-depth character! I love the idea of this play, only getting to hear what is going on without seeing the action. I very much want to see this play get put on somewhere!

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: Property Values

Wow what a time this was! The conversation between Corinne and Mandy goes from zero to a hundred so quick, but the transition seems so natural to Cathro. This play is so creepy, playing with the idea of a haunted house that only acts up when you’re upset. Mandy as a character would be such a thrill to play, having to play all that emotion without showing it. Cathro further proves how brilliant a writer he is with this piece!

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: Masking Our Blackness

This was a brilliant piece that highlights the horror story that is white privilege. The transformation from fun New Years Eve party to Jordan Peele horrorness is done expertly. The characters all stand out and have their own voices, and that ending is just chilling. Great and extremely important work.

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: Once a Cheater

Oh my goodness this is “bloody brilliant.” This show had suspense, it was creepy, and the writing was just so good. Each character has their own voice and the pacing was fantastic. What Mansfield does exceptionally well here is show us a character study on what happens to people when their lives are in jeopardy. This was a fantastic view into the heads of people who have messed up or are evil to the core and shows us exactly what makes them tick. Fantastic piece, I can’t get enough of it.

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: Imperfect Storms

Sickles gives readers a play full of hope and heartbreak in this 10 minute punch to the gut. The scene is so real that you allow yourself to expand your beliefs for the 9 pages, and the characters are so distinct and brilliant that they make everything feel so drastic and full of energy. This was a beautifully written piece that is meant for two actors with strong chemistry to shine with!

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: Variations on the Death of Vera

Oh my goodness this is how you put horror on stage. This is incredibly creepy, entirely chilling, and all and all just scary. I love a good urban legend and to see all of these different scenarios played out in ten minutes is so cool and everything about this concept works. Partain does a great job at bringing this spooky story to the spooky stage. Brilliant and bone chilling work!
