  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: Mina, Dina, Tina, and Bean’s Completely Average Pandemic Pod Powerpoint Party

Zoom theatre, you gotta love it. The detail in this piece is out of this world, and what is great about this piece is it nails your classic short unexpecting horror story style. The characters were real and believable, the story is something I've done many times before, and the ending is creepy and well executed. Great work by St. James!

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: Pumped-Up Kicks (a monologue)

A one page monologue. That's it. That's all it takes to make an impact. Such a hard-hitting subject, but this monologue is beautiful in such a dark way.

As a huge fan of “SAW,” this spoof on it was absolutely brilliant. It was incredibly funny up until the very end, where it took a drastic turn and brings to the stage what audiences truly love about the movies: suspense, twist endings, and people getting what’s coming to them. The writing was smart and the story was creative, good piece for any horror fans.

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: The Cask of Amontillado, adapted from Edgar Allan Poe's short story of the same name

Martin masterfully recreates a classic Poe tale for the stage, and in doing so gives us engaging characters, witty dialogue, and mesmerizing visuals. To see this show take place on stage would be amazing. The thing I love most about this piece is how much it reminds me of the original text, yet how Martin recreates the story to inspire new audiences to come. Brilliant work

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: THE FERRIS WHEEL - a short play for both stage and radio

This was a beautifully written piece about fate and love and a fantastic character study looking at the lives of one couple who find themselves at the Ferris wheel countless times throughout life. Miller shows us how great her intuition with words, and provides us with a fantastic read.

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: The Quiet Game

Baughfman is a playwright that knows his strengths and knows how to write genre work. This show was creepy and kept me on my toes. The character work was outstanding as each character had their own voice, and the dialogue was so amazing, especially with the doll and ghost voices that haunted the car ride. Brilliant work, if you are looking for horror/thriller plays then stop here and READ THIS!

Wow. That’s all I can really say. This was so impactful. It actually made me quite emotional because I definitely identify with Lisa in this situation. What Adams does great here is 1) create two characters (Lisa and Chris) where both of their sides are valid and correct, and 2) create a character who I completely sympathize with. This was an incredibly smartly written piece, and worth the read.

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: The War on Christmas (and Other Bullshit)

This play is what I’ve been saying for years. Jacobs nails this topic on the head, creating two characters that dramatize two polar opposite sides, and also creating one character that represents the vast majority who just don’t care. The thing I love about this play is that it begs the question: why the hell is this topic even a debate anymore? Jacobs uses her strong and attention grabbing voice and makes an impactful statement on the phrase “happy holidays.”

  • Cole Hunter Dzubak: Marian or The True Tale of Robin Hood

Szymkowicz proves that he is ahead of his time with this beautifully and brilliantly written take on Robin Hood. While putting his own spin on the classic tale, everything about it is completely believable, and the subject matter especially with gender and LGBTQ+ representation is exceptional and flows smoothly in this piece to help make the playwrights point. Before COVID I was cast in this show at MSU as Tommy of No Consequence and it was some of the most fun! As both actor and playwright, this is a show worth reading that nails its message 1000%.

Rinkel again proves he is a master of dialogue in this fun and quirky 10 minute piece about the muse that gave us some of the best written words today. Engaging, brilliant, smart comedy, an A+!
