  • Asher Wyndham: Penelope Clefts Herself in Two Along an Invisible Line, or, The Penelepussy

"We all learn to suffer through abandonment." A woman's high-seas quest for her hubby turns into a feverish dream. She finds her true power. And finds out what loyalty really means.
The ending was riveting - inevitable but surprising.
The writing was so much fun, reminded me of some short scenes in Kathy Acker's My Death, My Life.
I look forward to reading more work from this writer!!!

  • Asher Wyndham: How Are You Called? (5-minute)

Philana Imade Omorotionmwan creates new imaginative spaces with her writing -- a fine example is this 5-minute play. This kind of space-making results in a special theatricality, a verbal and visual spectacle that exists in reality and and in the mind - combining past and present - it's so stunning. Read, listen, PRODUCE.

  • Asher Wyndham: ALICE IN THERAPY (from the TAPAS COLLECTION)

You wouldn't think a session with Freud would be hilarious, but with Alice - from Alice and Wonderland - as the patient it is! -- you're in for a pleasant surprise.
Lermond uses comedy to parody Fruedian psychoanalysis/pyschobabble - that makes it perfect for a comedy showcase.

  • Asher Wyndham: Godspeed (a YA monologue)

This character is immediately relatable and it gets our attention, and then they surprise us. The kid has a messy room and that'll stay the same, and their planet as well is messy, in a sense -- from this pandemic and other catastrophes -- but that can change, yes, if their generation makes a big difference. This commanding voice, recognizing a global problem, has the courage with help from friends to make lasting change, even if they're a bit unsure and uncertain about how to go about it. Theatre for social change, love it!

  • Asher Wyndham: Captain Cockroach

Seinfeld meets Kafka in this absurd comedy. Funny play about power-struggle teamwork, and ultimately friendship. An audience would love to see two actors dressed up as cockroaches.

  • Asher Wyndham: Before You Get Married

A riveting play that raises the temperature slowly, allowing two characters to explore each other through language and body, revealing shocking truths and shattering illusions. These two characters change page by page, drink by drink, and it's stunning and sexy.

  • Asher Wyndham: LA 8 AM (a ten minute play)

Levine escalates the zany and then surprisingly he pulls your heartstrings.
Another stellar play from America's master of 10-minute play format.

  • Asher Wyndham: THE BALLAD OF THE INSTACART DRIVER

Lines short as text-messages have a rhythm and specificity of description that creates this weirdly poetic effect. It's a monologue that's peculiar and funny like an Ashbery poem, but undeniably Carnes. A voice of an underappreciated Instacart driver emerges from the catalogue of foodstuff and consumer choice -- a necessary part of our survival -- a hero during this American tragedy.

  • Asher Wyndham: The Babysitter: A Monologue

This intense monologue, made so with every word and moment, really makes you think hard about how carelessness, even innocent, can end up being matter of life or death.
    Another winner by Copper.
