  • Ryan Kaminski: Erstwhile (or An Assassins Erstwhile Poem)

03/31/2026 - I love the juxtaposition that Ken Love uses to tell this slick and engrossing tale. An assassin getting ready to kill, getting ready to destroy, as he works to create a poem. He works really hard to create something truly beautiful and Ken has succeeded in this Erstwhile inspired piece. Would love to see performed. Great work as always!

03/31/2026 - A monologue that is as gripping as it is powerful. I love how we learn more and more about the relationship between the two brothers as the monologue unfolds, including the good, the bad, and the various twists and turns. This would be the kind of monologue that would put audiences on the edge of their seats as they listen to every word. Great work!

03/28/2026 - In just a single page, Evan Baughman manages to present a wonderfully imaginative and compelling concept, and a beautiful relationship between father and son. This works beautifully as a one-minute piece but could be expanded into a ten-minute piece, a one-act, or a full-length. Just like the premise of the magic ice cream shop, the possibilities are magical! Exceptionally well done!

03/28/2026 - As someone who has seen his fair share of Hallmark Christmas movies this piece had me howling with laughter from beginning to end. From the opening exposition, to the premise, to the dark comedic turns it takes in its closing pages, this play is a winner for Christmas or anytime of the year. Excellent work!

03/27/2026 - A beautiful piece that is all too relatable to anyone who has had or currently has a loved one with dementia. The play focuses on memories while at the same time giving the audience a gripping drama of the present. Thought-provoking and very moving. Would love to see this staged!

03/27/2026 - Despite being a more recent member of the Playwrights Thriving group than some, I can attest that John Busser has done a magnificent job capturing the voices of all the playwrights well. Hilarious from beginning to end. I will be sure to attend more announcement meetings to see events like this unfold in real time!

  • Ryan Kaminski: Erstwhile or The Importance of Being Ernst Weil

03/13/2026 - Had the privilege of hearing this beautiful monologue performed during a Playwrights Thriving meeting. This would be a dream role for any actor. The character has so much history which is reflected in the wonderfully written narrative. Gripping and compelling from beginning to end. Well done!

  • Ryan Kaminski: Erstwhile (a Bascom and Isaac monologue)

03/13/2026 - Another great monologue in this series! It feels so natural and organic to the point where Isaac realizes he is delivering a monologue. I also love how Scott slowly reveals the flow of information to the audience, which keeps us engaged to the very last lines. Well done!

03/13/2026 - Heard this beautiful monologue read out loud via a Playwrights Thriving meeting. From beginning to end this piece is both Shakespearean and magical and would completely enthrall any audience. Would love to read and hear this work of art again!

03/13/2026 - I had the pleasure of hearing this piece read out loud. Reminded me of an episode of "The Show That Goes Wrong," in all the right ways! Funny from beginning to end with references to Star Trek, Alien, and even Rocky IV. Plus the teacher and playwright in me couldn't get over a revelation about the author of this play within a play. Excellent work!
