Oh my god Kate you are a bad person, in the best possible way! By that I mean that this wonderfully witty back and forth between this pair of unlikely travellers had me giggling all the way through. It was just an amazing example of domedic timing, coupled with a story that just keeps on giving!

Understanding and being able to process your emotions is hard enough as an adult. In this wonderfully intrieguing piece, Janine takes that problomatic scenario and brings it into the life of a young girl. What you, as the audience are provided with as a result is a powerful and entertaining piece that explores feelings, why we feel those feelings, how we feel those feelings and how we feel when we don't want to feel those feelings any more. Its a fascinatingly constructed story that is sure to reach both children and adults alike.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Gingerbread

"You make choices. They don’t make you." To me this was the pinnacle at the centre of this tale. Vinny has a dream of being with the woman he loves, Cupcake has a dream of being a dancer and Luanne sits in the middle of it all. Its a wonderfully emotionally motivated piece that explores the idea of dreams, disappointment and how giving up can sometimes seem like the only thing to do. Any of the three characters would be amazing to play and the raw emotion is something any audience will relate to.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Grown-Ass Louis

"Don’t feed me a plate of bull crap and call it pizza." is one example of the very real moments that are presented in this play, which is ironic, gift its dream status. In our dreams we are often presented with something we don't want to face and that is apparent for Louis. Its a wonderfully raw, emotional and powerful piece that could be a treat to design, given its dreamlike nature.

Sam has a gift for creating plays about what it is to be human. In this case he takes the horror of war and PTSD and presents you with a snapshot of how it affects people. Ed has suffered much in the ways of loss and is consumed by guilt, all of which feels very real as he faces what happened to his friend Kym and the prospect of having to return to that war, for the greater good. This is a play that offers great pace, intrigue and emotion. Its sure to see audiences discussing it afterwards!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Gloom, Doom and Soul-Crushing Misery (10 min.)

So, when I first read the title of this play I thought I knew exactly what to expect, so imagine my surprise when I found myself smiling at the character descriptions alone! From there you are treated to a wonderfully humorous piece that celebrates...well the emotions we have vs the ones we want. It twists and turns, amusing you all the while before the fabulous shock with the ending! It offers a great chance for performers to play complex, yet wonderful characters in this wonderfully titled and constructed piece!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: GURL TALK by Deb Meyer

In a world dominated by glossy magazines and glamourous social media pictures telling young women how they NEED to look to be attractive its such a charming change of pace to meet a friend like Nikki. The conversation these two girls find themselves in is very relatable and very real as they debate the idea that getting surgery or dieting will make their lives better. Its a glorious celebration of being just the way you are and would be a great piece for young people to see.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: For All That I Am (A Short Play)

I love the brilliant flexibility there is for the actual staging of this production. As a performer, director and designer you could have a field day bringing these lessons to life! At the same time, I found myself drawn to finding out what would come next in this series of posts. There's a wonderful realism to the way the piece is spoken and that I believe would make it a brilliantly relatable play, because of the unique social media angle but because of the way Cary has brought to life the frustrating world of dating!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: FOUR BEDROOMS (a full-length play)

The championing of this play in its recommendations is easily understandable when you read it! There is sometimes a temptation with plays featuring older characters to make it bleak but Marj's play is far from it. You are treated to a story with wonderfully tender and amusing moments in equal measure. As a piece that celebrates older women, you really couldn't get much better. My only disappointment was that I was unable to see the live production that has been so highly praised but the script alone does a fab job of bringing these characters to life!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Forgive Me

Wow! This is a play that offers escalating tension from early on and will have an audience leaning forward to see where this thriller is going (at least that was the case for me)! Vivika has offered an audience a window to see how sins affect our lives and the interactions we have. Its a wonderful example of tension fuelled theatre that could easily be expanded or left as this enticing thrilling moment!
