  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Pillow Talk

Oh my god this play is utterly hilarious in a wonderfully dark way! Brenton does a fabulous job of luring you into thinking this is just about dating, right up until almost the last moment. The very real the way Olive and Ella talk about the world of dating and the perils that go along with it would be wonderfully relatable for an audience and then you get the wonderfully wild twist that is sure to provide some out loud laughter moments and leave you feeling you've scene something special!

As a society, we claim to have come far in the world of tolerance but in Mark's piece he has framed a snapshot of what it can be like to try and do something as simple as go about your life when you are of a different race. The emotionally heightened conversation between Browder and Susan won't fail but to have an effect on an audience and think about the idea of perspective and prejudice and how dangerous they can be in certain circumstances. I heartily recommend reading about it, thinking about it and considering its power.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: O, Little Town

As someone who believes its NEVER too early for a story that offers a take on Christmas I had great joy in reading this twist on the classic nativity. I've sometimes had the thought of how frustrating it must have been for Mary and Joseph to be constantly told there is no room of them. Well, not only has Matt Barbot captured that moment but he's sprinkled it with lovely moments of humour that I didn't see coming and had me laughing out loud. A perfect alternative for a Christmas Festival!

I always knew there was something else behind the sweet smiles of those girl scouts! As a big fan of a fairy tale twist I utterly adored this modern take of the fairy tale. While the tales often come with a moral you don't expect debates about gender, diet and education but that, along with so many other sweet delights, is what is on offer in this twisted tale. Not only would it be a great performance for an audience to observe but the designers of the set, costumes, actors and director would have an absolute blast!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: O'Sullivan Stew

The tale of O'Sullivan Stew is not just one that is told, its constructed in a brilliant way. Laura tells this story in a wonderfully sensory way, you are not just told about where the story is going, the places are created through sound and constructed by the characters. Its a piece that designed to be experienced above all else. Sure to be enjoyed by children and adults its a wonderfully constructed tale of fantasy and an audience is sure to leave a theatre knowing they've seen something special with this piece.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Opulence

I have often said that one of the key elements of great theatre is a play that makes you questions and leads to discussion. That is what Jarred has presented to an audience here, a fascinatingly intriguing piece that offers quick fire dialogue that you can't not focus on. Its a piece that forces an audience to think and consider the characters before them, the decisions they make and what they are saying. Not only would it make a brilliant live performance but it would make a fabulous piece of study in one of many subjects! Theatrically fascinating!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: President Charles Evans Hughes

We had the great privilege of reading this piece as part of our Sunday night play reading and it offers a fabulous perspective on what can happen in just a few moments in the world of politics. Its a wonderful mix of real life events with a few unexpected twists all sprinkled with fabulous sounding dialogue that draws you into the time it was set. Its essentially a perfect example of history coming to life!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: NEXT OF KIN

Archie is a man you can see clearly in your mind's eye as you observe him as well as the unseen characters he interacts with. He is a very 'real' man and for that reason, his turmoil and upset feel very real by extension. Being stuck in the hospital would be a very relatable scenario so it is my belief that Archie is a character that an audience could bond with as they imagine what the rest of the world around him looks like. It's a play that offers moments of humour and high emotion coupled with a heart-wrenching end.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Neander

Neander takes a collection of very different but wonderfully unique characters and hurls them into a horrible scenario, which we, as an audience can observe their reactions and discover more about them. Ramsey provides moments of emotion, comedy, and tension in equal measure, and the intimacy of the 'trapped setting' the characters are in allows us to feel that we are part of the experience with them. If performed live it is sure to hold an audience as they question how these characters will react in this horrendous scenario and if they will survive?

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Neighbor Jane

The key to longer pieces for me is to make them addictive, drawing the audience in until they are desperate to know where the story is leading or what the next turn is. That is what Tina has done exceedingly well here. You, as an audience member, are given the chance to be a fly on the wall in this intimate setting that is interjected by tension, emotions, and secrets. Coupled with that, it also offers a great chance for an older actress to embrace the complexity and curiosity that is Jane!
