  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Gambit

Right from the descriptions at the beginning this piece had more than grabbed my attention and as the play/game progressed it drew me in further still. Ross has created two amazingly powerful female characters and placed them in a back and forth where Jill is determined to get to the answer and Clementine is determined to avoid her. The wonderfully enticing dialogue, the twists and turns of the plot coupled with the overall comparison to the complexity that is Chess and this piece has an addicitive quality where you need to see how its going to end!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Glass Houses

A fascinating analysis of human emotion provided with a literal setting of concealing those emotions within a bubble. I was drawn in and fascinated by the world Emily has where Meg and Charlie are waiting until its safe before they can be together, but is that really what they want? Is the idea of being on the outside better? and what about the stranger who has approached them, can she be trusted? These were all questions that rushed through my mind as I read the play and I dare say it will be the same for an audience, wonderfully intrieguing!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Goodbye, Denny Jacobs

I have always been fascinated by the world of why criminals do what they do and are there circumstances that change a person. Jackie has explored this within her character of Maddie and added the further insightful twist of having the character be part of these criminals lives up until their final days. This play offers performers the chance to play brilliantly constructed characters, especially when you are confronted with the question of morality of one of the characters. Its a play thats sure to leave an audiece thinking with plenty to discuss afterwards.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: GOOD BOY BAD BOY [One-Minute Play]

Oooo! I do love a good supernatural mystery and this is a perfect example of a short one. A broken picture, a boy claiming his innocence on the grounds that Freddy did it and then a wonderful twist about Freddy himself, or it could be two twists or three?! I'm not giving away any more than that but it would make a great piece for a Halloween festival because, like all good spooky tales, it leads the audience guessing and you with a bit of the heebie jeebies!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Give Up The Ghost

A wonderfully constructed example of what happens when a younger generation is confronted by the past. Andrew has created an intriguing tale about a group of young people who experience just that when a late night visit to a graveyard results in a confrontation with a ghost. I have to admit there were a few points when I wasn't sure where this was going to go, which only adds to its wonderful construction and would be one of many reasons for an audience to enjoy it!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Forgotten Falls - Full Length Thriller

This piece has the feel of a really good TV series, the more you discover the more you want to know. It has a wonderfully addictive quality to it as you discover the lives of three sisters and the dominoes that fall as a result of their past and present. Honestly, I couldn't get enough and could feel myself leaning forward, desperate to know where this was going and the ending...oh the ending! Its a piece that is screaming for a production, either live or on radio becuase it offers everything and then more! Just a fabulous piece!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: FINDING HELP (a 10 minute play)

The perspective of what its like to be an older person is portrayed wonderfully in three different ways here. The mother who doesn't believe there's a problem, the daughter who definitely does and the caregiver with the nochelant confidence that he will be able to solve the problem. Marj has a gift of creating wonderfully believable characters, putting them in very real situation and letting the feathers fly. I kind of want this to be a continual series to see how the relationship between Mother and Michael progresses and thats always a sign of great theatre, that they want more!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Frosty the Rogue Man - Part of the "Have Yourself a Twisty Little Christmas" Anthology

The wonderful thing about reading plays is you get to discover the fabulous unique stories that playwrights create and having a snowman educated on the way to communicate and what unfolds from there is a wonderfully funny unique story! What started out as an baffling and unpleasent interaction (I will never think of the line "Baby, it’s cold outside" the same way again!) soon unfolds into an entertaining and yet heartbreaking conversation between one human and one non human entity about the way humans interact. The education of Frosty is wonderfully written and any director would have great...

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Familiar

Robert and I discussed this play during his interview on my podcast and I knew I was going to read it at some point and I am so glad I did. There is a wonderful intertwining of moments that make you smile as Lou shares the memories he has of his life with a younger man and then the heartbreaking moments of realising that Lou doesn't recognise who he is. Sadly, it's a set of circumstances that will resonate with many but it's been told in such a delicate way that makes it a wonderfully emotional piece. Produce it, please?

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Feeling Batty

Right from the character descriptions in this play, I had a smile on my face and it only went on to delight from there! As an audience, you get to witness the wonderfully witty back and forth between the vampire Lord David (wonderful name btw) and the confused Zoo Keeper as they debate the world of vampires as well as Lord David's mission to release his fellow vampires from captivity. You'll smile and laugh out loud and then just at the right moment Cole twists things expertly at multiple points so you just don't see the ending coming. Utterly fabulous!
