  • Christopher Plumridge: A Horse Called Home

Clever! I love the idea that this is a simple story of kids playing with a hobby horse... yet at the same time I'm completely drawn into the fantasy, which becomes a palpable story in its own right.
'I've been through the desert on a horse with no name" yet this horse has a fine name, and he's (or she) is definitely not for sale.
This play is so very unique and I love it!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Target after lunch, and other judgments on the state of man (A monologue for men)

As a step father to a son with special needs, I can truly relate to this powerful monologue read by a father. Yes he's made sacrifices, yes he yearns for his own life, but credit to this man he puts himself as a father first.

    Excellent, powerful and true.

(Oh and I learned a new word in the very first line, ha!)

  • Christopher Plumridge: Ice Box Cake and the Man from Lima (Short One-Woman Play)

Baker has real inside knowledge of a time, not so long ago, where racism was pure uglyness. Here he mixes it with a recipe of cakes and gossip in this well constructed monologue. Thankfully, we have come a long way since, but there's clearly a long road ahead. Credit for Don to record such an important part of historic society for future generations to question: "Was it really like that?" Excellent.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Batman Vs. The Joker at the Laundromat

Just so very funny! I love plays where superheroes are bought back down to earth, physically and metaphorically.

Just blissfully funny, do read this if you need a giggle!

  • Christopher Plumridge: A Long Overdue Talk With Henry

Brilliantly funny, perfectly dark, yet with a hint of sadness. But Gayle is a tough lady, one minute she's telling her tale of her recently deseased husband, the next she's screaming like a banshee, swearing like a trouper and playing splat the rat.
This would be so much fun for an actor to take on!

  • Christopher Plumridge: On Growing Up (MONOLOGUE)

This is a great monologue about growing up and the choices we chose, or chose not to make, as we enter adulthood.
Short and to the point, and the last line made me laugh out loud!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Ten Things I Hated Growing Up: A Monologue

I guess we all had ten things we hated growing up, and just like this playwright, some are trivial but some hurt and can damage us into adulthood.

This is a cleverly constructed monologue sure to get any audience thinking, about this list and their own.

  • Christopher Plumridge: What I Saw on Christmas Eve: A Monologue

What a perfect Christmas monologue this is! Cole captures and tries to hold on to the magic of Santa in his sweet young protagonist, even when an unwelcome guest visits in the night, (not the one you think) No spoilers here, suffice to say this is a great monologue and a lovely piece for a young actor to take on.
    Beautiful.

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Packsaddle Librarian Monologue

I love plays about real life events in history, this monologue sees young Mary delivering books to those in remote mountain areas. Inevitably she meets with some resistance along the way, but soon wins them over.
Thank you Mr Peel for bringing this story to light and for suggesting a striking way to read and stage this monologue!

  • Christopher Plumridge: A Fragile Mind - Workplace Stressors

Part two of this series and something dark is turning darker....

Poor Jenny is lost, she's now Tammy, but is she...? There's her confusion and ours too. This strange predicament will keep audiences gripped, waiting impatiently for the next instalment to be played out.

If this is the future for the human race, we have some scary times ahead, but for now this is superb, terse writing.
