  • This is a sweet two hander between a young couple desperately trying for a child of their own. Well fleshed out characters make you believe in them as much as they believe in their chances of conceiving.
When Landon returns from babysitting, full of wonder and brooding, Melody is in tears, but happy or sad tears... ? Read this for yourself to find out.
    Very nice.

  • Christopher Plumridge: A QUARTER PLACED ON RAILROAD TRACKS

Martin has captured this moment perfectly, a snapshot of time late at night when two good friends contemplate parting and their futures. I mirror previous recommendations of this play, the detail lies in the tracks between the dialogue of these two.
It would also be a good challenge to stage, to portray the train thundering past.
    Excellent.

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Wizardeth of Ozeth

Why, Oh Why has no-one ever thought before of mixing the Wizard of Oz with Shakespeare? This is genius!
Poor Mr Baum meets a theatre company who wish to stage The Wizard of Oz, but intend to add their on spin on it (pun noted.) and the way they pitch their idea to him is hilarious!
And the very last line - BEST LAST LINE OF A PLAY EVER!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Nina and Drew in a Little Canoe

If you ever want to drift off into a fantasy, read, or better still, watch one of Hannahs wonderful, mystical plays.
Set simply in a canoe, with just the moon and her light for company, these two non-lovers discuss love and its loss. Is there still love, was there ever love? Does there have to be an answer?
I would pay good money to watch an evening of Hannahs plays being performed, and this one is stunning!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Bard Wars

Take Shakespeare and mix him up with Star Wars and you get a brilliant and hilarious parody of Romeo and Juliet!
This play is so much fun, actors would have a blast staging this play.
I'm really looking forward to the next six episodes in this saga! Return of The Shrew? The Hamlet Strikes Back? The return of the Capulets?
    Love it!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Poor Paige

Poor Paige? I'm inclined to think Poor Amelia, for trying to help her neighbour and friend, her patience is tested to the extreme.
We all know people like Paige, so maybe they need real, professional help.
Also there are many social issues raised here, in the struggles to make ends meet, offset against the things we love most in life.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Fridge

Never before have I cared so much about a kitchen appliance! Although I guess most of us di become attached and it's sad when they break down.
Jennifer's fridge in this short, sweet and fun play is adorable, it cares, it knows how to store yoghurt.
I love this play and would love to see it staged!

  • Christopher Plumridge: A PLAN

A PLAN is wonderful, Kenny's advice for robbing a bank is priceless, even though most of it has been taken from films! As the play, and their plans pan out, you get a good glimpse into the life of Kenny, and Charlie learns well, for this old dog still has a sharp eye. I have to say the reveal towards the end caught me completely by surprise.
Also this is a subtle, clever nod to the TV series PORRIDGE.
    Love it!

  • Christopher Plumridge: EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE, ALL OVER THE PLACE

Ha! Many years ago I was this teenage boy, pity my mother!
This short play would be so much fun to stage, to fully clutter up the stage to extremes in order to set up the funny ending.
    Poor mum!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Crawl Space

Crawl spaces are usually creepy, and CRAWL SPACE is genuinely creepy. Lee has devised a clever premiss here which will have audiences on the edge of their seats, and not wanting to watch, at the same time. The reveal at the end is horrifying.
I imagine this being played out in pitch black with only the characters flash lights lighting their faces from time to time.
    Scary and brilliant!
