  • Christopher Plumridge: Water, Water

Anger, hate, drinking, abuse, and many other nasty traits can feed themselves down though generations time and again, only when someone is brave enough to stand up to them, then this can stop.
It's taken a disastrous hurricane and flood for this son to make his father realise just what a monster he is.
As they await rescue can father accept this?
Moving and gripping in equal measure.

  • Christopher Plumridge: A Fragile Mind - Press The Red Button

This short opener to a series I cant wait to read is gripping and somewhat disturbing. Sci-fi has often dabbled with resetting our minds and clearing memories. Joe takes this one clever step forwards, as we see unsettled Jenny in a chamber, waiting for such 'rejuvenation'. Naturally she's scared and the somewhat human robots are of no real help.
This is an excellent opener to what promises to be a wonderful series.
    Good luck Jenny.....

  • Christopher Plumridge: A Wager

Oh the stakes are high, the stand off tense, both subscribing to the theory 'Live by the Sword, Die by the Sword.'
Baker and Vogler have created a terse two hander in this play, THE WAGER, both characters are clearly not to be messed with, but who will win this battle of wills?
The conversation between Copeland and Peck is slick, curt and at times nasty, as illegal business transgressions intertwine with family affairs.
Audiences will be trying to work out this play as it unfolds, for there must be many ways this story can end.
    Excellent and gripping!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Lonely Man, No more!

Most of us go through periods of loneliness, I know I have. So how do we cope, how do we turn this into dealing with solitude instead.
Good friend Tom comes along to help John with this very dilemma, he's a great friend who offers great advice. How John reacts to this advice is inspired, the whole of the second act had me smiling throughout. Very clever!

  • Christopher Plumridge: HUMAN REMAINS

Haha, Charlie really gets the last laugh here! HUMAN REMAINS would be such a fun play to stage, especially for the actor playing the multiple bit parts.
Dark and hilarious, this is a must read and a must perform. Dead funny!

  • Christopher Plumridge: ULLA: A MONOLOGUE

I have just watched an excellent rendition of this monologue by the brilliant Back Porch Theatre. Asher has created such a deep, emotional, trapped character in Ulla, we see her tell her story while sat on a park bench, supervising her children. The interjections to the kids, mixed with the depth of story make a compelling monologue.
I would love to hear more of Ulla's story.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Slash

Jason and Freddy in a horror film short 'trope', perfect!
The classic scene is set, two teenagers making out in a car somewhere in the country, screams are heard, the tension builds.
Then along comes The Creep.... I won't give anything away but the ending of this play is dark and hilarious!

  • Christopher Plumridge: CRISIS ON A BENCH (a 10 minute play)

We all need a friend like Cora, someone to turn a crisis into a brand new start. This play is uplifting, as Ella's life is unexpectedly thrown into turmoil, along comes Cora to turn it back round.
Their conversation is slick, natural and believable. This play also provides two great roles for actors of a certain age to get their teeth into.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Bluebonnets

The field of blue bonnets, a gentle breeze, the clear sky... in just a few lines you are there with June.
But June is lost, she's hurting, her grief is raw. What happens next is a beautiful, so no spoilers here, read this for yourself, better still stage it.
    Lovely.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Bulletproof Love

Firstly, I love the way this simple play is staged, the two taking turns to have their spotlight behind the glass which separates them. Visually this would be striking.

But nothing compared to the story which unfolds during their recollections. The love they have for each other is intense, so intense they need bullet proof glass between them.

This is one excellent play I'd love to see staged.
