  • Christopher Plumridge: Escargot: a monologue

I've had Escargots (let's face it, a posh name to help is deal with the fact we're eating slimy snails...) about the same amount of times as this protagonist. This is a clever monologue, as there's so much scope to act with it, in several ways. Love it!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The [C]Han[n]uk[k]a[h] Play

This play (I shan't try to write the title!) is such a fun invite into a Jewish household, albeit a fun and slightly odd Jewish household. I have been, on rare occasion, in a similar situation as Dane as they are introduced to this family, I just know I would enjoy every minute as it unfolds before me! Another wonderful and unique play by Lipschutz!

  • Christopher Plumridge: O, Commi-Tree (Ten Minute Play)

Ha! What begins as a zany Monty Python inspired sketch involving an anti-capitalist talking Christmas tree (why not?!) turns itself round to bring an important message, one I've often thought but perhaps never followed up on: Let's stop buying each other crap!
    Great fun, great message!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Here's To You, Mrs. Robinson

Sometimes, as in this sharp two hander, the tension builds throughout, in this case sexual tension. Usually, the audience is left wondering, standing on the edge looking into the abiss.... but here, Hansen breaks the rules. He throws you in deep, in an excellent way! Love it!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Steps (short play)

Ooh... clever. So much going in here in such a brief conversation on the stairs. Then, half way through, a twist I did not see coming which turns this little story, (or beginning of a longer story) into a darker tale. I also love the simplistic formatting. Very good!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Cookies for Santa

Oh my word this is brilliant and hilarious! Two boys sitting, patiently waiting to see if Santa will call in on Christmas night. Of course he does because these boys are on the nice list and they prove their worth in the most beautiful way.

But just as the big man arrives so does Godzilla, then all hell kicks off! I love how Santa reacts, his filthy language must be a shock to these boys!

This has to be the funniest Christmas play I've ever read!!

  • Christopher Plumridge: All is Calm

ALL IS CALM starts as a gentle meet up of two close friends which gradually turns into a dance, a dance of will they/won't they - should they/shouldn't they. Once again, this playwright is a master of close, realistic believable dialogue, any audience will buy into these friends and probably like me will wish they'd see the obvious and get together!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Lumps (a monologue – two versions)

Is this a sign of the times (where poop jokes are no longer acceptable) or is Lou simply trying to bring a smile to a smart ass kid? A great little monologue

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Shelf on the Elf: A Brick Fistula Mystery

The title of this play alone warrants a recommendation, the play that follows is a clever, slick, festive noir. It's as dark as the winter nights in Lapland, with a surprisingly seedy underbelly you wouldn't expect Santa to be caught up in. Will our hero find out who dropped the shelf on the elf? Read this play to find out, even better, watch it. Brilliant!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Why the Hell is it so Hard to Write a Recommendation on NPX? A Monologue

This monologue, or maybe mini-rant, is spot on!

If you need any help in filling in these recommendations, which I often do, I suggest you ask the Rec-Master, Mr Sickles!
