  • Christopher Plumridge: ACCIDENTALLY UNLIKE A MONSTER

Take arguably the most famous opening line from one of the most famous songs, throw in a depressed rock star along with a groupie/werewolf and you have another excellent CSJ play!
Let's hope he recieves the help he needs and doesn't become a hairy headed gent who runs amok in Kent.....
    Excellent!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Untraditionally Traditional

This play is such a fast paced, fun, festive, family short and I loved it! What a lovely family and I'm sure Mum is missing them madly although she might be enjoying a little break from the madness! Great fun and credit to Rob for doing his research!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Losing Hope

Some desperate issues just pass on from one generation to the next, LOSING HOPE is a sad example of this bitter cycle. Emily tackles this subject sensitivity yet without losing the true and gritty situation mother and daughter find themselves in. Viewers will be desperate to step in to rescue Hope. Very well written.

  • Christopher Plumridge: A Toast (from the THE WRINKLE RANCH AND OTHER PLAYS ABOUT GROWING OLD collection)

So many strong emotions in a short two hander as we witness this private chat at a wedding reception. No wonder, given the scenario of a parent moving on quicker than others are ready for. Debra tackles this very sensitively in this moving short, even with a clanger dropped at the end! Very well done.

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Smell of Vicks

THE SMELL OF VICKS is such a sweet and touching monologue. I've always found Vicks comforting, just like Paul's wife's mother used to give her and smell is such a powerful sense. I feel for Paul and I'm glad this vapour rub brings him comfort.

  • Christopher Plumridge: THE RAISINS GO WITH THE NUTS (ten-minute play)

The strained relationship between mother and daughter, thrown together due to the pandemic, comes out in near explosive fashion in this short play. Only the tired nurse can sort out this pair. A touching moment nonetheless in a time which tested is all.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Pinkie & Sheila

Firstly, I need to see this staged, visually it would be spectacular and hilarious! But behind the clown facade there is a hint of sadness, isn't there always when clowns are involved? And Dr Herbert's solution is inspired, great fun!
(BTW, forgive my daft imagination, I couldn't help but imagine Dr Hibbert from the Simpsons, Marge being Sheila, long suffering wife of Homers clown!)

  • Christopher Plumridge: We Got Married

At no point in this fun short play do you actually believe the marriage stands, but A and B certainly have their doubts as C plays cupid! I admire the simple formatting, allowing anyone to be cast. Great fun!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Rules of the Sisterhood

Oh stay clear of this Sisterhood! Cringeworthy and scary in equal measure, then the twist at the end just makes it worse! A great fun dark comedy short, love it!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Big Black Giraffe

Ha! This is a fun little play, or rather a big black giraffe of a play! Vickies lack of reaction is a perfect contrast to Joeys total panic. But in the end, I couldn't help feel sorry for the said giant giraffe, maybe its not out to destroy the world!
