  • Christopher Plumridge: Breakwater

Oh my, the love this couple have for each other is so deep and profound, it shows now more than ever while Monty is suffering a suspected heart attack and facing his deepest fear. Audiences will be gripped from the word go in this tender two hander, as I was, and no breakwater could stop my tears. Beautiful!

  • Christopher Plumridge: A True Ghost Story

This is such a clever play, it's a ghost story of course and we can decide to believe or not, but here the playwright tells this story in such a believable way. At no point is it fantasised, or exaggerated in any way. Having a narrator relay the events is inspired, it makes you feel as if you're in the house with Dorothy. I'm sure any audience will experience a similar chill. I love it!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Replacement

Well, this arrogant white nationalist certainly meets his match in Sylvia, in this clever little stand off play which seesaws between fantasy and reality. Morey gives us a tender balance between hate and humour, I do believe there is a much longer play to be written here, but it holds its own as it is.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Justin Thyme I

Oh don't you just hate it when you get a jobs worth holding you up? Worse if you happen to be a CIA agent. This play is hilarious with some great word play. I can't wait to read the others in this series, I hope Juan Bad Dude makes an appearance! Great fun!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Armrest (a monologue)

Straight to the point, this monologue deals with a tricky situation, or rather a downright tricky and rude travelling companion forced upon this poor man! Scott brings us expertly into the mind of this man and we feel for him, this makes it palpable. Every flight I've been on there has been an 'awkward' passenger, so I'd soon take issue with this 'lady'!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Price of Fame

Oh the desire for fame, but at what cost to others? This is explored by Rachel in this poignant short piece, at times darkly funny but with an important message. Audiences will be taken by surprise at the twist half way through, as much as they'll be surprised at the ending. A very intriguing piece by this prolific playwright and once again I feel there's a lot more that can be explored with this idea.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Three Items from my Truck: A Monologue

I found this short monologue darkly amusing, but there's a serious side to this and you fully understand just how the narrator feels. I'm not sure as to why these certain items were stolen from their truck, I'd be worried for the same reasons too! A good monologue to test an actor as used for an audition piece.

  • Christopher Plumridge: REMAIN CALM, a short play

Remain Calm, which of course, in such dire circumstances we cannot and will not! Set against the real threat of attack following the events in Ukraine, the playwright skillfully shows us just how we'd all probably react, I especially enjoyed (if enjoy is the right word?) the audiences reaction at the start, too worried about their refund or the lack of WiFi! We see the actors take cover themselves, we relate to how they feel as secrets come out. Also I love how quickly the writer brings the story to life, just as in reality, we wouldn't have much time!

  • Christopher Plumridge: An Awkward Conversation in the Shadow of Mount Moriah

A brilliant two hander, taking a biblical story, asking what happened immediately after and dealing with it by using modern dialogue! I'm amazed at what unique and clever stories playwrights keep coming up with and this is a fine example. Treat yourself to reading or watching this play, it's great!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Crossover Fiction

I listened to this fun play on the Gather by the Ghost Light podcast and I suggest you do too because it really brings it to life! Poor Tom Cord gets unwillingly sucked into his own play and has to face the very characters he's created, with dangerous and hilarious results! Brilliant fun!
