  • Brent Alles: FORGOTTEN AGAIN - ONE MINUTE PLAY

I was going to recommend this, but then I forgot why. Oh right! It's a great concept executed very well by Brandon in the telling. Whew!

  • Brent Alles: Moonlight Sigil

A fun play here that shows the consequences of "practical" magic. Great soundtrack suggestions! Nifty twists as well. A good piece of dark comedy/fantasy drama... enjoyed it!

  • Brent Alles: MOVE IT OR LOSE IT

Good use of snappy back-and-forth dialogue in this short play to create a very comedic situation. Fast paced and enjoyable! Very good twist at the end as well.

  • Brent Alles: THE FORGETFUL STORYTELLER

Wonderful storytelling by Levine here as you're drawn into the lives of this family: their joys, their struggles, and their steadfastness in the face of the "evil" taking their husband, father, and grandfather away from them, piece by piece. We are with David as he "fades away," and yet, just like any good storyteller, he is able to remain by what he leaves with those who loved him most. A lot of love to be found in this play, and it provides a very warm experience indeed reading or seeing it.

  • Brent Alles: Dance Into Night

An absolutely intriguing and gripping piece. There's so much to take in here, and the use of sex, music, booze, and everything else that might be considered vice is put to the examination of virtue. I love that the piece had me questioning reality from start to finish. Neo-noir and even Lynchian in approach. Incredibly affecting... this play will stay with you for a while whether you read it or, more hopefully, see it staged. Because it absolutely needs to be staged. Tremendous.

  • Brent Alles: Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire

I admire that it's hard to "peg" this play, and Vansant plays both sides of the coin (comedy AND horror) very well here. A Christmas piece that could warm your heart or creep you the F out. Your choice, I suppose, but very well done by Vansant in the writing!

  • Brent Alles: ROMEO AND JULIET & ZOMBIES

An ingenious concept that's executed very well by Cross. I kind of marveled that the original text remains so intact as some of the worst nightmares of Romero and Kirkman are sprinkled into the mix. That has to be commended as well, in terms of the surgical use of the undead ones to heighten the tension in a totally different way than the original work. This goes well beyond a gimmick and instead becomes an excellent and viable piece of theater unto itself. Bravo!

  • Brent Alles: Crass Reunion

This was a lot of fun to read, and I can only imagine that it would be tremendous fun for an audience to view and participate in it. Wonderful and hilarious characters that should make for a good evening of theater for whatever group decides to put this on. Book it so that your audience can join in the fun of a reunion gone wrong?

  • Brent Alles: Fighting Hands

An interesting short piece with characters you don't typically encounter. That makes for a fascinating family examination in the brief time we get to spend with them. An enjoyable slice of life with a bit of bittersweet seasoning at the end. A good read that should make an excellent production at some point.

  • Brent Alles: The Divorce Reunion

The idea of family is perhaps more diverse and complicated than ever these days. Heyman brings an insightful look into those factors with this piece. As we are privy to this discussion between siblings, we learn much about their lives and also about how people deal with family trees with winding and sometimes twisted branches. Excellent dialogue... a play that will perhaps leave you thinking about your own family relationships when it's all said and done.
