  • James Binz: the sun and all its sighs

I read this just after reading "Muthaland". Hard to imagine this is from the same writer! This is poetic and deep with twists and trials. Black humor and dystopian political events. A hard read and it would be hard to watch. Gandhi deserves more workshops and more productions. Nice- actually not nice.

  • James Binz: Muthaland

I felt that I was along on every step of Mina's journey both literal and spiritual. This is a very powerful monologue and uniquely told. The challenges, trials and cultural moments are so well told! I was fascinated with the way she is able to navigate a very old ethnic life with a very modern one. Her desire for fulfillment is strong and the playwright is very skilled at giving and taking away opportunities for a happy ending. Although this would be a terrific part of a Bollywood style evening - even non Indians can enjoy. Brava!

  • James Binz: No Joy, No Luck

Lucy Wang shows us all a different side of the Amy Tan world. I can't imagine my mother doing those things, but I can empathize that it must have been weird and worrisome. A tight, raw monologue for a tough actress.

  • James Binz: Black Lipstick Girl

Well written slice of life. I really liked the characters and the dialogue was spot on. The story line ran true to form and the dramatic moment worked very well. This would be interesting to watch and the actresses would have some nice juicy roles to bite into. Brava!

  • James Binz: I Smoke

Film Noir and Femme Fatale. My favorites! Very poetic monologue with juicy word choices to make the piece sing. An audience would be captivated and seduced by this Femme Fatale, and we would all be watching for the entrance of the slightly disheveled Private eye hero who can make her world right. I would need a smoke after seeing this.

  • James Binz: Free Treadmill

The pudgy chain smoker hates his treadmill full of anthropomorphism. Funny dialogue! This would be perfect in a quick hitter situation in a night of shorts. Nice!

  • James Binz: Jacquie Floyd Sent Me

Certainly a fun romp! I get the sneaking suspicion that there is more going on here than meets the eye? Great scene work and special characters. A real joy to read. Brava

  • James Binz: CRIME SCENE WEAPON

The protagonist knows what he wants and he wants it desperately. He is willing to do anything he can to get it. The antagonists need to stop him and they work hard at it. Great conflict, very tight and nice dialogue, terrific characters and a unique situation. Very well written. Brava!
