  • James Binz: Daylight Saving Time

This is so well written. I saw Stephen's play "Hip Replacement" at the Pittsburgh New Works Festival this weekend and just knew his dialogue and characters here would be amazing. The ability to write captivating ideas and tell a great story is a true writer challenge and Stephen LaRocque is a master at it. This would be a terrific story to see on stage - very theatrical and very relatable. This piece gets high marks in every category. Brava!

  • James Binz: How Much Do You Love Me?

Ooof! The dilemma of the second guess. Very well written short. what does the protagonist want more than anything? How do they change in the course of 10 pages of dialogue? Christopher Soucy knows how to answer these textbook questions with gusto. A master class indeed.

  • James Binz: Stonehenge

Comparing your relationship with the ancient Stonehenge is a challenge and a wonder. Great characters searching for who to include in a cracked and falling over world. Nicely done.

  • James Binz: Tumbling Down

Nice short pressure cooker. Jack and Jill have already fallen down the hill and are quite broken. Nice piece of paranoia.

  • James Binz: Dear John

Great fun! Wonderful dialogue and a sparkling twist at the end. This is a marvelous ten minute piece and needs some staging right away!

  • James Binz: Bed Play; The Elements of Intimacy

This terrific and unashamed slice of life is a revelation. These characters spark with tension and attraction and they fit this plot perfectly. The scenes reveal so much messy detail and so much exceptional life. Emma Carter has revealed a brave world of sex and emotion that is attractive and repulsive at the same time. This would be a challenge for actors and directors - but the pace, plot and characters are too good not to take up. I truly enjoyed the read - thank you!

  • James Binz: Piss Cup Payments

I recall being subjected to urine testing regularly in the Army. There was always talk about selling or buying your clean sample. Hank is quite the salesman and his persuasion is almost irresistible. The last moment is a shocker!

  • James Binz: Calling the Game

A clever monologue - the announcer is a frazzled, sleepy fellow in a game of no apparent consequence. He sleepwalks through a run producing inning and heads out for garlic fries. You can almost smell the place!

  • James Binz: The Dissolution Mask

What a tough situation - I really felt for these 2 characters. The dialogue crackles with intensity and the plot is fast paced and strong. This would win a short play festival competition. It has all the elements and is very well written. The actors would have much to chew on and this would be a challenge and a delight to stage. VERY WELL DONE!

  • James Binz: Of Milk and Mirrors...

I got to read a great 10 page beginning of this fairly experimental piece. Strong start and I really enjoyed seeing the actor/husband get to play all the parts. Jessica Huang has created a weird world that reads true and stands up. I think this would be a terrific one act to see on stage. Great dialogue and fascinating pace and plot. Brava
