R&J seen through the eyes of Mercutio? Yes, please. What a wonderful contemporary take on a story so many know so well. By turns heart-wrenching and a grin-fest.

What do you do when you're stuck in the same place with the same guy for 5-10 years? You could talk to him. And maybe he'll talk back. I wish I could take some of this dialogue and stick in on my quote wall it's that good. Diaz-Marcano has a flair for storytelling that constantly makes you think, whether you agree with the situation the characters are in or not. This is a heartbreaking, heartening, cathartic, very truthful roller coaster. I can't recommend Nelson Diaz-Marcano work enough and I will always be coming back for more. Read this. Produce this.

The original R&J always left me with so many questions, and this deliciously moving prequel answered them to my satisfaction. Rose is a beautifully multi-dimensional character--a power house of a woman any actress would be thrilled to play. Bits of the original Shakespeare text and characters are peppered throughout the plot, which is at once original and true to the story many love. A brilliant addition to any company's season!

One of the most quirky and achingly beautiful stories I've come across in a while. The characters are carefully and lovingly drawn and the plot draws you in and never lets you go. Simply stunning.

This play is beautiful, brave, intelligent. It's a roller-coaster of perfectly balanced emotions which help to portray an aspect of contemporary society that is very current, very real, and needs to be heard.

A quirky dark comedy, with fascinating dialogue that rises and falls with the same rhythmic quality as a blowing wind. Perfect piece for short play festivals and high school/ college scene work.
