  • TURTLE KID: A NEWBIE ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVIST MONOLOGUE
    20 Jun. 2018
I don't know how Asher does it, but is always a pleasure reading his monologues. In very simplistic fashion, Asher builds complex situations in which his characters (being this one or others from his other monologues) get to attack our society's illness in the most common ways. Seeing Turtle Kid plea is heartbreaking, as he moves from pain into action just to realize what he is doing is not enough. But it is that realization that propels him to do even more, making him the hero we needed him to be. READ THIS!

Again, Hageman manages to do so much with so little. A beautiful one minute play that explores the depth of romantic relationships at its most raw yet also at its most adorable.

What a fun little play. It says so much with so little actually being said. Best part is all the conversations it can create with its simple concept.

A reflection about what family means. A study on what love is. An examination on what responsibility entails. Guadalís' play is all of that, weaving the themes masterfully and ultimately creating a piece of theater that is as real as it is wonderful.

What a beautiful work has Mr. Wyndham gifted us here with. This play is a reflection on past mistakes blended with the discovery of what makes a person who they are anchored by two characters you fall in love with from the first line. Asher continues to impress me with his strong representations and relatable characters.

There's a reason this play has been so widely recognized. The power of Moreno-Penson's work is not only in what she's able to expose through her words, but how she is able to make it human. These characters are all in search of their place on earth, but only one of them feels misplaced. It is in her journey we see the pain of a whole country. Tremendous play!

Oh man I did not expect this at all. This play its both an in depth look at what it is to be an LGBTQ teenager and an exploration of the life that you could have if you decide to stay hidden. It also exposes the dark aspects of dating apps in the funniest way possible.

Quick, fun, heartbreaking. This coming of age story resonates in its silly plot to construct a perfect critique of the pressures we put on each other and the pain of losing your imagination.

Matthew Weaver wins again. This play is hilarious. The lovely premise takes us into reflective conversations that spotlight the human condition, just to take that all away in an incredibly absurd twist which gave everything even deeper meaning. And incredibly FUN short play.

A sweet romantic comedy full of exceptional moments that feel real. An ode to wishes and the realities of them. The characters are fully developed making you feel like you know they whole history. Emily's dialogue makes it easy for us to fall in love with them.
