  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: PERMISSION

I saw this last night at the International Human Rights Art Festival and it blew me away! The situation is right up there with the most pressing issues of our days. The monologue is tremendous! What a well written play! It was directed a very specific way, but I could see the writer has left a lot to interpretation which is enormously generous for directors to do what they will with it. I imagine it will have quite a life onstage!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: VEILS OF JUSTICE

Stunning! Anntares has written an incredibly intense, edge-of-your-seat courtroom drama that everyone should read and produce - based on a true story, but there is so much structure and tension that Anntares employs to shape it, Veils of Justice feels more like a thriller. Seduction! LGBTQIA! It has won every award there is to win! Why is this still unproduced?

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: The West End Beach Club

Hilarity with so much heart - this play will crack you up and make you cry! It has been my pleasure to work as a dramaturg on this large cast ensemble comedy with roles galore for older women (and a few men). This would be a blast to produce - the costumes alone could be so much fun! And while it keeps you laughing, there is a depth to the play filled with real moments between 3-dimensional characters with real human desires. Kudos to Ms. Fiest Stein for all the great work she's done on this beautiful play!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Sirens

Sirens is a funny satire on police procedurals and the objectification of females no matter what our profession! Wonderful work!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Inner Dialogue

Proving the grass is always greener, this play puts the thoughts on top. I like the way it makes you want to know what is happening on the surface. It would be a blast to direct. I always like playwrights who do the unexpected, and Inner Dialogue is a fun way to play with the short form!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: The Ferberizing of Coral

Very imaginative as well as funny, but it's not just funny - a whole heap of assumptions comes into play - and the play really takes a look at a lot of societal ideas about parenting and development and it's dark, and it's also funny! Wonderfully written!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Marvin

Vansant has written a wonderfully funny and imaginative play that deals with a very common childhood fear I won't give away, so MARVIN speaks to many of us (children and adults) on many levels. There is a deep heart to all the shenanigans! MARVIN will continue to be relevant for centuries. It would be super-fun and simple to produce. Read it, produce, repeat!

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Daylight Interrupted

I really enjoyed the visuals in this play because they gave me a sense of the loss of sight that Hal experiences. Touching and intense with longing, I would love to see this staged. There is so much compassion Ho pours into this play - it is easy to close a door and forget about lives like this - but Ho opens that door wide to give us more than a glimpse into Hal's life, and I am so grateful for it.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: Smail

Smail is a stunning play that resonates perfectly with life today showing the heroic moral stance of a man who is a kind of Everyman, an ordinary man who stands up to the corrupt government as it tortures him. The play is written with great delicacy and compassion. There are some beautiful theatrical elements like the empty birdcage that can serve as a guide to the underlying theme of what it means to be free. The final scene is incredibly moving. I highly recommend this play.

  • Emma Goldman-Sherman: BO-NITA

A good definition for The Seeing Place (theatron in Greek) begins here. BO-NITA is so incredibly moving and simultaneously hilarious I am beyond impressed with it and Heffron's ability to define character so clearly that one person can show us these fully dimensional complex people including a 300 lb dead man with a boner, a woman super-trashed, a child desperately seeking belonging - all in the blink of an eyelash! A rare and stunning work of art.
