  • Ross Tedford Kendall: Cottonmouth - Ten Minute Play

What I love about this play is the clever use of subtext. The character conveys exactly what happened, but doesn't comprehend what they witnessed themselves. It's up to us to piece together what happened. This should be read or watched by everyone to see this technique in action, in addition to all the other great things happening with this play.

  • Ross Tedford Kendall: PEDRO'S PATIO

A charming and funny play that hides a touching theme just below the surface. I particularly like the little touches that bring you into this unique location. The dialogue is snappy and the characters are colorful and well drawn. Perfect for any ten minute festival.

  • Ross Tedford Kendall: The Voice of the Violin

A very funny and entertaining play that is filled with references, yet tells a thoroughly original tale. The characters are well drawn, the pace is quick, and it has music. What more could you want?

  • Ross Tedford Kendall: Stiletto Envy

A poignant little play about how one is perceived vs how one feels inside, and the challenge that can present to a relationship, especially longstanding ones. The playwright doesn't provide the characters with easy answers, and instead leaves a conclusion that rings true and hits hard with emotion.

  • Ross Tedford Kendall: UNLUCKY, A Short Play

Emotionally fraught, this short little play is a stark reminder that the past can often intrude on the present, and things that change in the interim often have big consequences.

  • Ross Tedford Kendall: Remember Me?

The amount of detail is impressive in this short little piece. Not a wasted word that brings about the entire story, which leaves you with a lasting image. All told from a unique perspective. Great job!

  • Ross Tedford Kendall: THIS YEAR, LAST YEAR (a 10 minute play)

I was thoroughly impressed with this ten minute play. Playwright O'Neill-Butler effortlessly moves through time to present a story that evolves over a year. All within the short play form. It really opened up to me what could be possible. The play doesn't slack on the characters, conflict, or emotion, either. A remarkable achievement.

  • Ross Tedford Kendall: Striking Up

This is a great, tight little piece that sets up a seemingly innocuous meeting between two strangers and pulls us along to a shocking conclusion. I particularly like that both characters tell their story in a way that does not seem expositional, but flows out of their personalities and situations. A nice play for a dark comedy festival or other similar venue.

  • Ross Tedford Kendall: Why Birds Fly

The playwright upends genre conventions in this dark meld of a domestic drama and horror storytelling, and both work together beautifully. At turns tragic and funny, it moves briskly, hits hard, and leaves an impression that lingers far after you've put the script down and left the theatre.

  • Ross Tedford Kendall: Strings

A remarkable piece that transports you to a place that seems both real and where anything can happen. The metaphors are distinct and clear, and the emotion is well crafted. A fine little ten minute piece.
