  • Sharai Bohannon: SANDY: A SUPERCENTER EMPLOYEE MONOLOGUE

I could see this being a lot of fun for an actress to sink her teeth into. It's at times funny, sad, and relatable. It also captures the people I knew during my time in the Midwest. I look forward to reading other monologues by Asher.

Extremely moving piece about grief. Caitlin has a way of writing delicate characters, in very intimate moments, that makes the reader feel as if they're in the room and experiencing the same grief and confusion. You can't help but to empathise with these characters and feel helpless that you can't lessen their sorrow (especially because they're fictional characters). I would love to see it in a festival or a night of short plays dealing with any of the main themes.

Jessica perfectly captured the workplace dynamics (and woes) most of us feel every time we arrive at the office. These characters are our co-workers, work friends, or office acquaintances, that we all seem to spend the the bulk of our time with once we enter into the workforce. Jessica has managed to take that mundane environment and examine it in an honest light before spinning it in something slightly hopeful. Very well done!

  • Sharai Bohannon: The World is Watching

I saw this play at Texas Tech and LOVED the dark humor (and was also a bit concerned with how much I could relate to the protagonist). The script tackles social media addiction, while specifically examining what happens to a person that spends so much time plugged in that they're not sure how to function in the real world anymore. It reads like a less terrifying, but equally complex, episode of Black Mirror.

I attended the Equity Library Theatre Reading and was blown away. The characters, dialogue, and storytelling are basically a masterclass in playwriting. I look forward to someday seeing a full production of this brilliant piece!

  • Sharai Bohannon: Good Bad People

I had the privilege of attending a recent reading in Chicago, Il. The play is not only timely, important, provocative, thought-provoking, smart, and complex, but it also doesn't let the audience off of the hook as it shines a light on some of the more grey areas surrounding this issue. I'm excited to see where this goes and I think Rachel is definitely a writer to keep an eye on.

  • Sharai Bohannon: OCCUPY HALLMARK a ten-minute play

A very funny and thoughtful script. Moose and Salty are very grounded and relatable characters that help keep this from becoming just a typical cute romantic short play. We've all been in, at least one of, their shoes before and that makes it funnier and more touching than I expected it to be. Very well written!

  • Sharai Bohannon: A THING OF BEAUTY (formerly entitled: THE HANDS SHAPE

I saw this a few weeks ago at Bishop Arts Theatre Center. It's a very powerful piece focused on three strong women who challenge us to reevaluate how we see ourselves and our familial bonds. A very sharp and beautiful work. Bravo to all involved with that production!

  • Sharai Bohannon: ON THE EDGE

This is definitely one of my favorite Pospisil plays even after having the pleasure of serving as SM for a night of his work in my undergrad. This is a very dark, witty, and smart piece that I can't say enough good things about. I love everything, but what really sticks out is the characterization that happens within the span of something so short.

  • Sharai Bohannon: Hath Taken Away

I'm always in awe of Juntunen's way with words, but he might have outdone himself this time. Hath Taken Away is a particularly beautiful piece with a very intriguing structure. Surprisingly though provoking read that stays with you long after you're done reading it.
