  • Arianna Rose: SmartBra

Every day now in a while I read or see a play and think “Damn! I wish I had written that!” Smart Bra is one of those plays. Witty, original, and a pointed satire on how technology has seemingly replaced our human need for connection. I can’t wait to see a production of this! Bravo to Ms. Reed and once again, “Damn!”

  • Arianna Rose: DAUGHTERS of ABRAHAM

Emma Goldman-Sherman is a born writer. Her imagination knows no limits and she understands how to write with theatricality and wonderment. That is so apparent in Abraham's Daughter. A female Jew from NY myself, I so resonated with this play and the underlying themes of all of us being mirrors for one another and that we aren't all that different after all. It unapologetically starts right off with magic...but then we find the real magic is in empathy and understanding another person's life. A must-read, must-produce play!

  • Arianna Rose: Singular of Dice

Taut, frightening, not a wasted word or pause. I had to remind myself to breathe when reading this. I can see why it is getting chosen everywhere! A master class in playwriting and suspense.

  • Arianna Rose: Heart Attack

Ms. Ruetz has masterfully used dramatic irony to great effect. The fun in this piece- and it is great fun- is watching the realization unfold for both women and seeing where they take it from there. A tale of inter generational female bonding. Read it, produce it!

  • Arianna Rose: The Elusive Pursuit of Maximum Bliss

A long-time student of metaphysics, this play definitely registered a 100 on my 'bliss band'. A compassionate look at how underneath the routine of daily life (or daily lives, in this case), we are all longing for connection and a happy ending. A fascinating and theatrical look at the many possibilities we create in each moment and each decision. I would love to see a production of this play!

  • Arianna Rose: Binged There - Done That

I am a huge fan of absurdist comedy and this fit the bill. A smart and funny send-up of tv binging, episodic television, and the tropes of pop culture. Ken Preuss cleverly pokes fun at the way we rush through everything in our lives, not stopping to savor the milestones. I would love to see this performed. It's a sure-fire laugh-getter. Read it! Produce it! And why am I hungry for lasagna right now?

  • Arianna Rose: SNEAKING A PEEK (a 10 minute comedy)

I was lucky enough to see a staged reading of SNEAKING A PEAK in South Florida. Ms. O’Neill-Butler has written two characters everyone can identify with, regardless of age or gender. The audience laughed throughout the piece. I love how it deftly skewers prejudices against older women and gives us insight into the very real discrimination older women face on a daily basis. I highly recommend this two-women play for everyone. Read it, produce it!

  • Arianna Rose: THE DEBATE AT BOSWORTH FIELD (ten-minute play)

I had the pleasure of seeing this play performed three times at a recent festival in Manchester England where my play was also being produced. This hilarious, absurdist play had the English audience laughing non-stop. I love these kind of plays that take literary characters out of context. We see Richard the III with new eyes while enjoying the familiarity of his history. Mr. Yancey skillfully builds the comedy to the perfect final line.

  • Arianna Rose: CRABS(DOT)COM

I have had the good fortune to see crabs(dot)com three times when it shared the bill with one of my plays in Manchester England. I love the originality of this piece and the humor. Ms. Carnes takes a familiar tale of retribution against an ex and makes it fresh, funny, and compelling. I am a fan after seeing this play. Ms. Carnes’ work is being produced everywhere and it easily apparent why: she is that good! You’ll be itching- and laughing - for a long time after you see this play.

  • Arianna Rose: Sunlight Man

I am a sucker for a good ghost play, and this one got me in all the right places. A beautiful series of moments about regrets and the road not taken. It will take your breath away and make you think about your own unfinished business. A perfect gem. Read it, produce it, see it!
