  • A Conversation About Mom
    6 Aug. 2023
As I was reading this, I was constantly surprised, which is the hallmark of excellent craft in writing. Playwright John Busser has written a no-holds-barred light flare of a play with a superb twist at the end. Devastatingly honest, this short play packs a lifetime into ten pages. I can see audiences responding to this with recognition and empathy. Read and produce this!
  • The Goddess of Love Speaks Out
    31 Jul. 2023
"Without everything that is love, who are we after all?" A gorgeous line with so much depth, written by playwright Michele Miller in this hysterical and raunchy monologue for Aphrodite as she deals with the limitations of love during a pandemic. This no-holds-barred short piece is a tour de force for a woman-identifying actor and a succinct commentary on our dating mores in society. Read and put on stage immediately!
  • Missed Disconnections
    30 Jul. 2023
A wonderfully clever and honest play about looking for love in all the produce places. Playwright Samara Siskind has crafted delightful and engaging characters who are entirely relatable. Missed Connections is extremely funny, with the added bonus of subtext about finding love in this digital era. No surprise this gem of a play is getting published and has had so many accolades already! Read and produce it some more.
  • Telling Dad (Ten Minute)
    20 Jul. 2023
Beautiful, sweet, earnest, on-point, current, and ultimately heart-warming. Telling Dad by Paul Donnelly is a lovely piece of storytelling with an authentic family dynamic. You'll love all three characters as they struggle with the situation and the pressure of the outside world. You'll be rooting for Billie and their transition long after the last page. Read and produce!
  • Thoughts and Prayers
    14 Jul. 2023
An incredibly powerful, moving, and suspenseful piece that everyone- EVERYONE - will relate to. Playwright Dan Taube's deliberate use of direct address forces us to confront what our society has become, but never in a preachy or tiresome manner. It's highly theatrical, thought provoking, heartbreaking, and will hopefully galvanize the reader to action as the best political theatre does. Kudos to Dan Taube for facing this topic head on and in such a creative and compelling manner.
  • THE LUCKY NUMBERS - 10-Minute, a series of events in a convenience store
    8 Jul. 2023
The Lucky Numbers - boy, were they ever! Playwright Tom Erb manages to pack in a visit from an otherworldly visitor, a pregnant woman about to give birth, and a masked robbery, all in ten minutes. At its heart, there's a beautiful message about creating community and the very best part of humans when they come together in times of crisis. I'm certainly glad the Numbers Keeper hasn't come for me - not sure I would have answered correctly! Read and produce.
  • Death of an Actor
    30 Jun. 2023
I have the great pleasure of hearing this play read and workshopped in our weekly writers group. Playwright Dan Taube expertly crafts the arc of a friendship complicated by addiction. He explores with great compassion and delicacy the ties that bind us and the ties that bound us, capturing the exuberance of acting students and their "let's put on a show" mentality. With every scene, the relationship deepens as the characters age as we watch the trajectory and fallout. Read and produce it - an affecting piece by a skilled dramatist.
  • Lost and Found

Any time we get a chance to spend some lovely moments with Betty White, is a win. I'll take it, even if it's only 7 pages. And boy, does playwright Bruce Karp pack poignancy, humor, and mystery into a 'tight 7'. I was lucky enough to witness this well-crafted play workshopped in our writers group and I wholeheartedly recommend this beautiful piece. Read it and produce it....into infinity. We miss you, Betty. Thank you Bruce Karp for opportunity to sit with her a little while longer.

It's such a genius idea to take a well-known literary character and give them a whole new back story- or forward story. Playwright Dan Taube is more than up for task, crafting a fabulous, laugh-out-loud ten-minute comedy that will be a hit on the festival circuit. I had the great pleasure to hear this play read in our writers group. I particularly love the twist at the end - comic gold. Read and produce immediately before the creature comes after you!
  • A Long Overdue Talk With Henry
    15 Jun. 2023
John Busser's brain should be preserved and studied in future generations for the brilliance it possesses. The sheer imagination of this piece takes my breath away. Hysterically funny and also profound. As a recent widow of almost two years, I related to so much of this piece (well, not the bucket, but...) Busser has so perfectly captured widow's fog and widow's rage. The juxtapositions between the sweet presentational dialogue and the bucket shenanigans is worth the price of a ticket alone. Read it and please produce this!!
